"Bon Appetit, Your Majesty" Im Yoon-ah and Lee Chae-min reunited in the modern era. It was a perfect happy ending.
On the afternoon of the 28th, the cable channel tvN weekend drama "Bon Appetit, Your Majesty" (written by fGRD, directed by Jang Tae-yoo) final episode depicted Yeon Ji-young (Im Yoon-ah) returning to the present and reuniting with Lee Heon (Lee Chae-min).
Je-san Grand Prince, who led a rebellion (played by Choi Gwi-hwa), killed the grand queen dowager (played by Seo Yi-sook) and the Han clan power including Han Min-seong, then went to see Queen Dowager Ja-hyeon (played by Shin Eun-jung) and Prince Jinmyeong. Je-san Grand Prince lied to Queen Dowager Ja-hyeon that Lee Heon had killed the grand queen dowager and said Prince Jinmyeong should be enthroned as the new king.
Frightened, Queen Dowager Ja-hyeon asked for time, but Je-san Grand Prince tried to seize the palace with his forces while Lee Heon was absent. In the end, Queen Dowager Ja-hyeon made Prince Jinmyeong the new king, and Lee Heon was deposed.
Gong-gil (played by Lee Joo-an) noticed Je-san Grand Prince's rebellion and rescued Yeon Ji-young, after which Yeon Ji-young learned a coup had taken place and worried about Lee Heon's safety. Gong-gil told Yeon Ji-young she had to stay alive for Lee Heon and they fled the palace together and hid.
Lee Heon, who had noticed Je-san Grand Prince's rebellion, survived the battle in Salgot-i forest and returned to the palace covered in blood. Lee Heon met Je-san Grand Prince alone and learned his scheme. Je-san Grand Prince referred to the factional strife Lee Heon had triggered to explain the rebellion, but his true intention was ultimately to sit on the throne.
Lee Heon told Je-san Grand Prince he would become a deposed prince if he guaranteed Prince Jinmyeong's throne. Je-san Grand Prince planned to make Lee Heon a deposed prince and pretend to exile him to Ganghwa while actually killing him. Lee Heon anticipated this and intended to eliminate Je-san Grand Prince's group with Woo Rim-wi during the exile. Yeon Ji-young also joined the fight with help from Gong-gil and Jang Chun-saeng (played by Go Chang-seok).
Lee Heon and Woo Rim-wi succeeded in subduing Je-san Grand Prince's group, but Je-san Grand Prince kidnapped Yeon Ji-young and ordered Lee Heon to come to the arranged place alone. Lee Heon set out to save Yeon Ji-young, and Woo Rim-wi and Gong-gil succeeded in eliminating the rebels in the palace.
Lee Heon succeeded in finding Yeon Ji-young, who had been captured by Je-san Grand Prince. But he was wounded fighting Je-san Grand Prince's group, and when Yeon Ji-young went out to save him she learned that the author of Mangwoonrok was Lee Heon. At the moment Je-san Grand Prince attacked Lee Heon, Yeon Ji-young threw herself forward, took the blow from the sword instead, and fell. Lee Heon screamed, and Yeon Ji-young returned to the present and opened her eyes in a hospital.
Awakening in the hospital, Yeon Ji-young tried to go back to the past to meet Lee Heon again. Confirming the Mangwoonrok she had seen on the plane was still with her, she read the same passages that appeared when he went back to the past over and over. But Yeon Ji-young did not repeatedly return to the past.
A month later, Yeon Ji-young accepted a senior colleague's suggestion and started working again. Yeon Ji-young decided to revamp the hotel restaurant menu to the dishes recorded in Mangwoonrok that he had made in the Joseon era to win a Michelin. She reunited with the cooks who had worked with her there.
And she reunited with Lee Heon. Lee Heon traveled through time to visit the restaurant where Yeon Ji-young was working. Yeon Ji-young recognized Lee Heon immediately, and the two shared a tender kiss and embrace. Lee Heon, who came from the 1500s, kept his promise and made bibimbap for Yeon Ji-young, and their story continued.
