KBS2 Problem Child in House featured S.E.S. alum and actor Yoo-jin, who once again proved the charm of the original fairy with her candid, down-to-earth talk.
On the 25th (Thu) episode of KBS2 variety show Problem Child in House Season 2 (hereinafter "Problem Child in House") episode 285, S.E.S. alum and actor Yoo-jin, who returned from national fairy to national actor, was invited to the rooftop room and battled in a dopamine-inducing quiz war over outrageous questions with Song Eun-i, Kim Sook, Kim Jong-kook, Hong Jin Kyung, Yang Se-chan and Joo Woo-jae.
That day Yoo-jin expressed pleasure at reuniting with Turbo's Kim Jong-kook, who once dominated the era. Yoo-jin recalled, "Turbo was my idol. When we were active together, Jong-kook oppa was taciturn and cool." Yoo-jin then congratulated newlywed Kim Jong-kook on his marriage and advised, "(My husband and I) fought a lot during the first six months of marriage. We recognized that we were different people, and learned that trying to change each other doesn't work."
Kim Jong-kook surprised everyone with his devoted side, saying, "I don't meddle at all. Letting this person do what makes them happy is best." When Joo Woo-jae joked, "The precondition is no touching of your exercise routine," Kim Jong-kook agreed, saying, "I'm happy when I can do what I want," prompting laughter.
Meanwhile, Yoo-jin candidly opened up about life as an actor, drawing attention. Yoo-jin said that younger generations know her as an actor and recalled, "While filming a drama, a minor actor in their early to mid-20s once told me, 'You look like S.E.S. Yoo-jin,'" which surprised listeners. Yoo-jin said her daughters Ro-hee and Ro-rin also know her as an actor, but recently, thanks to K-pop Demon Hunters, interest in the S.E.S. days returned, saying, "The show displays an idol lineage. They said the motif was S.E.S., and they loved it," expressing pride. She also revealed a recent body-management method, stair climbing, which piqued everyone's interest.
Above all, Yoo-jin candidly shared behind-the-scenes stories of her marriage to actor Ki Tae-young, known as "Songdo's Choi Soo-jong," generating interest. Yoo-jin praised Ki Tae-young's current status as a household master, saying, "He's the type to see things through to the end. Even in the newlywed period he studied for two to three years to learn investment techniques and became a god of real estate. Neighborhood real estate ladies come and ask him questions. He studied parenting the same way," offering praise.
Yoo-jin revealed everything from her first meeting with Ki Tae-young to a year-and-a-half courtship and the triumphant proposal, drawing envy from all. In particular, when Yoo-jin recounted the story of Ki Tae-young devoting himself to childcare so she could return after childbirth, Joo Woo-jae exclaimed, "Today feels like we're reading a biography of senior Ki Tae-young," and Kim Sook quipped, "At this point Ki Tae-young should come out," eliciting laughter.
Yoo-jin also recalled memories of S.E.S., which was the originator of K-pop girl groups and enjoyed sensational popularity. She said a rumor that Park Jin-Young himself came to the waiting room with a guitar when they were rookies was true, adding, "He played a song he made. Back then, if you were in the waiting room, seniors would keep coming to watch," recalling her distinctive debut days and eliciting agreement. Yoo-jin also said that the junior group she thinks of as a second S.E.S. was NewJeans, saying, "When they debuted I thought it was like our debut. Their overseas activities looked exactly like when we were active," expressing nostalgic warmth.
Meanwhile, quiz time increased the fun with Yoo-jin-tailored questions that showcased her diverse sides as a singer, actor and wife, such as "Jean-Paul Sartre and Simone de Beauvoir's shocking marriage proposal," "ways to reduce pain when newborns receive injections," "a European spot resembling 'Lion Boys' that caused an SNS photo craze," and "Empress Myeongseong's special postpartum restorative dishes." Yoo-jin added intrigue with related episodes, from her husband's postpartum care anecdotes to a "50-year marriage contract" with Ki Tae-young.
