Actor Shin Ye Eun appears in Disney+'s first original historical series The Murky Stream, which is released today (26th).
Shin Ye Eun plays Choi Eun, the youngest daughter of the Choi trading company who seeks to lead Joseon's largest merchant guild in The Murky Stream, a destiny-forging action drama set on Gyeonggang where all of Joseon's money and goods flow, telling the stories of people who dream different dreams to set right a corrupt world and live like human beings.
Shin Ye Eun will portray Choi Eun, a forward-looking and spirited female character who does not adhere to traditional customs and boldly moves forward for her dreams, and is expected to lead the drama.
Shin Ye Eun has steadily broadened her acting spectrum by working in a wide range of genres, not only contemporary works such as Psychometry Guy, Welcome, A Love So Beautiful, and A Hundred Memories, but also thrillers and historical dramas through Third-person Revenge and The Love Story of a Flower Scholar. In particular, the powerful presence she showed in The Glory and Jeongnyeon-i earned praise from both the public and critics, proving her limitless potential.
Shin Ye Eun's acting, which has enhanced the immersion of each work with perfect character embodiment, is expected to shine again in The Murky Stream. Her solid acting, which freely crosses contemporary and period pieces and historical dramas, is expected to enrich the character of Choi Eun.
The Murky Stream is drawing more attention as director Choo Chang-min's first drama directing work; Choo, who directed the film Masquerade, which attracted 10 million viewers and was recognized for both commercial success and artistic merit, lends his exceptional directing skills. How Shin Ye Eun will create synergy with director Choo Chang-min's outstanding direction is also a point to watch.
Meanwhile, The Murky Stream was selected as an official invitational title in the On Screen section of the 30th Busan International Film Festival, drawing attention even before its release. Shin Ye Eun also visited Busan to participate in various events and meet audiences and fans to introduce The Murky Stream.
Starring Shin Ye Eun, Rowoon, Park Seo-ham, and Park Ji-hwan, The Murky Stream releases episodes 1–3 today, the 26th, and will release two episodes each week, for a total of nine episodes.
