Comedian Kim Young-chul broke down in tears after announcing the death of the late Jeon Yoo-sung during a live broadcast.
On the morning of the 26th on SBS PowerFM's Kim Young-chul's PowerFM, DJ Kim Young-chul mourned the deceased, saying, "This is sad news. He was an eternal senior to us…" While he struggled to continue speaking, he choked up several times and his eyes reddened, a sight that brought deep sorrow to listeners.
After the broadcast, Kim Young-chul left a heartfelt post about the deceased on his social media. He recalled, "At the end of October 2024, I was able to see my senior again during a YouTube shoot. I was deeply grateful that he willingly joined the filming. I still vividly remember that he could not eat much at the meal."
He also recalled his early days as a comedy newcomer, saying, "During the 1999 Gag Concert training, at the KBS bookstore the senior bought me three books and told me, 'You must read a lot of books.' Those words have remained a lifelong lesson. But I always regret and feel sorry that I wasn't able to contact him often."
Kim Young-chul concluded, "I hope you no longer suffer, and that you read and write the books you loved as much as you want. I will continue to read and study as you advised. Senior, I pray you rest in peace," conveying his deep affection. Meanwhile, Jeon Yoo-sung's pulmonary fibrosis symptoms worsened and he passed away at 9:05 p.m. on the 25th at Jeonbuk National University Hospital. He was 76. The wake has been set up in room 1 of Seoul Asan Medical Center's funeral hall.<
