'My child's romance' PD Park Hyun-seok spoke about the behind-the-scenes casting.
Recently, a written interview was conducted between Park Hyun-seok, the producer-director of the jointly produced variety show My child's romance on tvN STORY and tcast E Channel, and OSEN.
My child's romance, which premiered on the 20th of last month, is a reality variety show that depicts parents' perspectives watching their children date and the stories of children growing through romance.
Cast members include Lee Jong-hyeok's son Lee Tak-soo, Kim Dae-hee's daughter Kim Sa-yoon, Ahn Yoo-seong's son Ahn Seon-jun, Lee Cheol-min's daughter Lee Shin-hyang, Park Ho-san's son Park Jun-ho, Jeon Hee-chul's daughter Jeon Su-wan, Lee Jong-won's son Lee Seong-jun, and Jo Gap-kyung's daughter Hong Seok-ju, who present fresh romances and are attracting attention.
In response, PD Park Hyun-seok spoke about the behind-the-scenes casting, saying, "I hoped that fathers and mothers could appear together as much as possible. (However) from a practical casting perspective, I think appearing as a mother was likely more burdensome than appearing as a father," and added, "Nevertheless, I am really grateful to Jo Gap-kyung for appearing."
He continued, "There were a few criteria when casting the participants. First, we mainly cast friends in their 20s. I thought it was the most suitable age to express a fresh romance growth drama. And we focused on making sure the child cast members' characters did not overlap."
He also confessed, "Although we expected it, the casting process was not easy because they had to appear with their families," and said, "Looking back now, I think it was a natural process. Nevertheless, I am truly grateful to the parents and children who trusted us and appeared," expressing his appreciation toward the cast.
