Global girl group A2O MAY lifted their first rookie award trophy since debut.
A2O MAY (CHENYU, SHIJIE, QUCHANG, MICHE, KAT) attended the Weibo Music Awards 2025 held at the National Aquatics Center in Beijing, China, on the 24th and won the annual new artist group award (年度新).
The Weibo Music Awards is an annual ceremony hosted by Sina Weibo, China's largest social networking service. At the Weibo Music Awards, A2O MAY achieved the feat of winning the annual new artist group award, equivalent to newcomer of the year, proving their strong local popularity and presence.
Having earned the precious first rookie award just nine months after debut, A2O MAY, through their agency A2O Entertainment, said, "We are truly grateful to receive such a major award at the Weibo Music Awards, and we are honored to receive this great prize. We also thank our fans, MAYnia. We will continue to work hard to show even better performances."
A2O MAY, who officially debuted last December, has been drawing attention as a new global player by building a new genre that fuses Gen Z and alpha generation sensibilities called Zalpha Pop under the production of Lee Soo-man, a key producer and visionary leader known as a "global culture pioneer." They are gaining popularity with solid skills as well as attractive visuals and powerful performances.
In particular, "BOSS" entered the U.S. mainstream radio chart Mediabase TOP 40 for five consecutive weeks, achieving the highest record as a girl group composed entirely of Chinese members and as Chinese female artists. Their recently released "B.B.B (Bigger Badder Better) [feat. A2O LTG]" also achieved results such as reaching No. 1 on China's QQ Music daily new song chart.
Ahead of the release of their first EP, PAPARAZZI ARRIVE, in October, A2O MAY is conducting preorders for the album. With meaningful achievements in China and the United States and repeatedly reaching career highs, attention is focused on what music and moves A2O MAY will use next to achieve a global leap.
