"The Mantis: Original Sin" Go Hyun-jung once again leaves the nursing home.
SBS's Friday-Saturday drama "The Mantis: Original Sin" (written by Lee Young-jong, directed by Byun Young-joo) is a high-density crime thriller that depicts the joint investigation of Jeong I-shin (played by Go Hyun-jung), a brutal serial killer mother known as "The Mantis," and her detective son Cha Soo-yeol (played by Jang Dong-yoon), who has hated her his whole life. The all-time legend actress Go Hyun-jung's shocking transformation and overwhelming acting have drawn warm praise from the media and the public.
Jeong I-shin is a character whose motives are impossible to read—whether she is trying to help the son she reunited with after 23 years or trying to use him. One of the rare moments Jeong I-shin faltered was when another criminal, Seo Gu-wan (played by Lee Tae-gu), mentioned the names of her son Cha Soo-yeol and daughter-in-law Lee Jeong-yeon (played by Kim Bo-ra). When Jeong I-shin first escaped the nursing home after collecting Namga-roe's poison, Seo Gu-wan died in a mysterious hit-and-run traffic accident.
Meanwhile, on Sept. 25, the production team of "The Mantis: Original Sin" released a scene from episode 7 showing Jeong I-shin leaving the nursing home again, amplifying fervent viewers' unease.
In the released photos, Jeong I-shin is leaving the nursing home garden with Kim Woo-tae (played by Gil Eun-seong), the security chief who had been watching her every move, behind her. As she turns, Jeong I-shin approaches Kim Woo-tae and appears to say something. Jeong I-shin's meaningful gaze and Kim Woo-tae's startled expression create a sharp contrast. What did Jeong I-shin say to Kim Woo-tae as she left the nursing home?
At the same time, police officer Choi Joong-ho (played by Jo Sung-ha) watches Jeong I-shin leaving the nursing home with a serious yet piercing look, raising questions. This suggests Choi Joong-ho will accompany Jeong I-shin. With the perpetrator of the "The Mantis: Original Sin" copycat murder case coming into focus, why is Jeong I-shin leaving the nursing home without Kim Woo-tae stopping her?
