HYBE America and U.S. film studio Paramount Pictures' co-produced K-pop movie has finalized its casting lineup and begun full-scale filming.
HYBE America and Paramount Pictures announced the casting of actors Seong Jun, Kang So-ra, Lee Hyeong-cheol, Lee A-in, Renata Vaca (Renata Vaca), Silia Kapsis (Silia Kapsis), Aaliyah Turner (Aaliyah Turner), Kim Shana and Park Ju-bi, and said on the 24th (local time in the U.S.) that they began the first shoot in Seoul on the 21st.
Earlier, after actors Yoo Ji-young and Eric Nam were cast in leading roles, earlier this month actor Yoo Ji-tae, Tony Revolori and Gia Kim announced they will appear.
The film is slated to open in theaters on Feb. 12, 2027, and will be produced entirely on location in Korea. Among major Hollywood film studios in the United States, this is the first film to shoot all scenes in Korea. Filming begins in Seoul on the 21st and continues in Incheon and in Gimpo, Paju and Gapyeong in Gyeonggi Province.
The film will tell the story of a Korean American girl who, despite her family's opposition, dreams of becoming a member of the next-generation K-pop girl group and joins a TV audition program.
Benson Lee, who made his name domestically with the film Seoul Camp 1986 starring Cha In-pyo, will direct, and Eileen Shim, who co-wrote the Disney Plus original series The Acolyte, will write the screenplay.
