"Health evangelist" trot singer Park Gyuri said she was diagnosed with a brain hemorrhage after feeling a lightning-like headache at age 34 and recounted her brush with death.
Park Gyuri appeared as a case subject on KBS 1TV's Life, Aging and Disease Secrets episode "Hidden triggers of stroke," which aired on the 24th. On that day, Park Gyuri said, "I felt a lightning-like headache, something you normally cannot feel, and thought, 'I think something is wrong,'" and recounted, "the pain grew increasingly severe, and it reached a point where if I pressed my eyes and released them I couldn't see ahead; it was a serious situation, and after taking X-rays they said blood had already burst in my brain," vividly testifying to how she was diagnosed with a brain hemorrhage in her 30s.
Park Gyuri added, "The attending physician said that if I had vomited or not come to the hospital quickly, it could have ruptured in another area and caused more severe paralysis, and my life would have been in great danger," confessing that she had nearly lost her life. She also pointed to "overwork" as the cause of the brain hemorrhage, saying, "At the time I had formed an arts troupe and performed events with the military band, and I was so busy I had no time."
Finally, Park Gyuri recalled, "I thought this was a disease that at worst would come in your 50s, so I was shocked to receive the diagnosis. I felt it would be too unfair to die like this," and said she has followed healthy habits since then, leaving a strong impression on viewers. That day, Life, Aging and Disease Secrets focused on the heart, sleep and periodontitis, which can affect brain hemorrhage, based on Park Gyuri's case.
Park Gyuri has been active as the "trot goddess," releasing songs such as "Love's Arirang," "Spoon and Chopsticks," "She's a Woman," "You Are Booming, I'm Matching," and "Let's Go Together." Drawing on her experience of suffering a brain hemorrhage in her 30s, she has been active as a "health evangelist" and has also gained recognition as the host of TV Chosun's The Law of Disease.
