KBS2's 'The Return of Superman' touched viewers with Shim Hyung-tak's moving record of his son Haru's growth, who is 223 days old.
The 591st episode of KBS2 2TV's 'The Return of Superman' (directed by Kim Young-min, hereafter "The Return of Superman"), which aired on the 24th, was titled "Thankful every day" and featured the three MCs Park Soo-hong, Choi Ji-woo and Ahn Young-mi along with supermen Kim Jun-ho and Shim Hyung-tak. At the same time, The Return of Superman recorded a national viewership rating of 3.7%, continuing its upward trend. (Nielsen Korea)
In that episode, viewers saw Haru, Shim Hyung-tak's son, on his 223rd day after birth practicing his first steps and taking his first swim. Shim Hyung-tak confessed he was moved by Haru's daily growth. Attempting a dry butterfly stroke, Haru smiled broadly at his reflection in the mirror, melting viewers' hearts. Later, Haru sat on a toy and practiced walking, adding to his cuteness. He reached out toward his father and took small steps forward. Seeing this, Shim Hyung-tak said, "Each step forward was truly moving," revealing his deep emotions.
Especially when Shim Hyung-tak checked the VCR and saw Haru doing thigh exercises while he was preparing baby food, he exclaimed to himself, "So cute." He added, "What makes me happy about being on The Return of Superman is that it shows aspects of Haru's growth that I might otherwise miss," expressing his special affection for the show.
Haru drew attention by showing he might be a swimming prodigy on his first trip to a pool. Wearing a pineapple swimsuit and transformed into "pineapple baby," Haru adjusted as soon as he entered the water, and in the deep end where his feet couldn't touch, he kicked and displayed an exceptional posture that exploded with cuteness. While swimming, he even turned direction with a "Haru turn," impressively prompting his father to puff up with pride. Shim Hyung-tak joked with a beaming smile, "Maybe we should make him a swimmer."
Also in that episode, Kim Jun-ho traveled with his two sons, Eun-woo and Jung-woo, and their grandfather, drawing attention as the three generations of the Woo family made a complete trip. Especially the Woo brothers, Eun-woo and Jung-woo, doubled the cuteness with their similar-yet-different appearances. Wearing 1980s school uniforms and military training uniforms, Eun-woo and Jung-woo each showed different charms, then created a brotherly look that made their mother smile by wearing identical hairstyles and twin outfits.
Jung-woo showed outstanding observational skills and became the captain of curiosity. Riding a monorail, Jung-woo observed the scenery outside the window and chattered cutely about what he saw, saying, "That's a 'ssolbangwool' that 'ssolbangwool's," "A spider, a spider," and "Butterflies like flowers." MC Choi Ji-woo admired the noticeably grown Jung-woo, saying, "You speak so prettily."
Meanwhile, Kim Jun-ho sincerely told his eldest son Eun-woo, "Dad is always grateful to you." Eun-woo has shown a dependable big-brother presence by taking care of his younger brother Jung-woo both at home and outside. Kim Jun-ho confessed the grateful feelings of a parent, saying, "Eun-woo is still young, but when I see him taking care of his younger brother Jung-woo, I feel proud, touched and also a bit sorry," resonating with viewers.
The Woo family grandfather revealed an album filled with photos of Eun-woo and Jung-woo's growth and family memories. The grandfather's unconditional love for his son Kim Jun-ho and grandsons Eun-woo and Jung-woo, captured across 1,400 photos, delivered a poignant emotion.
