Singer-songwriter Jicheon and Nam Ye-ji, winner of the best jazz vocal album at the 22nd Korean Popular Music Awards in 2025, collaborated on the project single "Fallin" which is being released today (25th) at noon on all domestic and international music streaming sites.
The new song "Fallin" contains a philosophical message that "endless melancholy and despair will eventually seep into a colorless world, yet we still try to find an answer." Production was handled by Lee Myung-jae, who worked on Baechigi's "My Dongpung," Kinetic Flow's "To lovers 2% short of reality," and MC Sniper's "To be," and top domestic jazz pianist Jeon Young-se participated to enhance the song's completeness.
Especially, Jicheon's calm voice layered over Jeon Young-se's gentle piano playing and Nam Ye-ji's distinctive vocals blend with rich orchestral arrangements to deliver deep emotion. Following Jicheon's voice, which captures the imperfect feelings received in a colorless world, listeners encounter others who voice the same despair and pain. Their uniformly murmured hopeless voices slowly seep into the world and leave a shattering resonance.
On the opposite side, Nam Ye-ji confesses in an unadorned, calm tone. In the colorless world she has let go of many emotions, but despair still does not disappear. The world looked at with acceptance and a lifted head is still ash-colored. Even so, Jicheon and Nam Ye-ji say let us face and resolve despair one by one in this gray world, offering a message of hope.
Jicheon has received praise from critics and the public for the beautiful melodies and solid messages of every released song, including "Haehang," the soundtrack for the modular family, the New Recruit OST, and "Hwahal" (drama When Life Gives You Tangerines OST, vocal by Hwang So-yoon). In this new song, he also demonstrated his songwriting ability through lyrics asking "Is there no answer, the answer that embraces pain and all regrets."
Also, the music video was filmed at Janus, a leading domestic jazz club that boasts 47 years of history and has newly opened in Gwanghwamun, with Jicheon, Nam Ye-ji and Jeon Young-se appearing together to add musical dignity.
Meanwhile, to commemorate the release, Jicheon plans to meet fans through various stages beginning with a joint performance with Taiwanese singer-songwriter Lily on the evening of the 27th (Sat.) at Ruby Salon.
