Is there a vocal lesson by Wooz that makes you want to retake it as soon as you see it?!
Wooz appeared on 1theK (WonderK)'s original content "Music Recipe," released on the 24th (Wed), and stirred the hearts of 34 million global listeners with a concise, ear-catching vocal lesson. "Music Recipe" is a vocal class–style content in which an artist serves as a one-day vocal teacher and passes on tiny golden tips for singing their songs best. Previously, singer and musical actor Lee Chang-seop, CNBLUE's Jung Yong-hwa, SG Wannabe's Lee Seok-hoon, and NCT's Doyoung appeared to share their vocal know-how and received enthusiastic responses.
Wooz, who released his first record since discharge and his first new release in about two years, explained in the released "Music Recipe" the know-how for emotionally expressing his digital single "I'll Never Love Again" and its title track of the same name, and showcased the new song with his sweet honey voice.
Wooz said, "This song is the first I'm presenting after my discharge, so it's very meaningful to me," and added with a laugh, "My songs are often chosen as songs to try at karaoke, and this new song is worth trying (at karaoke). It's higher than 'Drowning' for now. I didn't write it to be sung high, but it turned out high." He explained with illustrations that "instead of producing high notes from the throat, if you make it feel like the sound reaches from the back of the throat, you can produce high notes more easily," helping fans' understanding.
He also shared the tip, "(To hit high notes well) practicing with a Bluetooth microphone is also a good method," saying, "When you sing into a Bluetooth microphone you can feel the vibration and get a sense in your body. It's good for practice because you can directly remember with your body the sensation of vibration that felt like the voice came out well without straining your throat."
This new song by Wooz is also self-written, showcasing a deeper musical world with his distinctive sensibility. He added, "In the early part of verse 1, I wanted to give the feeling of a monologue of a dead solo. (When singing) going calmly with indifferent vocals is expressed by breath, and the proportion of breath creates the weight of the emotion. The latter part is a song where strong and weak control is important, requiring a rock vocalization while belting. It's best to sing freely in a way the singer wants so the meaning of the lyrics fits."
Fans who watched the video reacted explosively, saying, "Wooz came to clear our vocal path," "Even his lecture is a sweet vocal master," "I clearly understood when he explained, but I got frustrated when I tried to sing it myself. We need a next lesson," and "Where can I retake Wooz's class?"
Park Ji-hye, producer in charge of direction at WonderK, explained, "'Music Recipe' focuses on helping global fans feel music more easily by presenting real vocal tips from top vocalists," and added, "Contrary to his charismatic and intense stage presence, Wooz's transformation into a sweet 'Wooz teacher' delivering an emotional vocal lesson is conveying a fresh charm to fans."
