The two first met on the drama "Making a Connection." When asked who made the first move, Yujin shyly replied, "I think I might have made the first move a little."
She added, "At first we met as opposing roles and there was a feeling of 'don't come near me.' He felt like a very closed-off person. I usually approach first if possible, but sensing that I thought 'alright.' We really just met, acted together, and then left."
About what caused the wall to break down, Yujin said, "While filming the 31-episode series, after finishing quite a long job, the production team and I went to a jjimjilbang. It was a familiar place, but he showed a different side. He had humor. I thought 'he has that side too,' and we gradually grew closer, and I asked for his phone number first. At that time I wanted to give him the photos we took together rather than out of romantic interest."
Yujin also said, "After filming ended we met once outside. At that time oppa wasn't interested in me at all. He talked about his own dating stories. We just became colleagues who got along a little better."
After the breakup, Ki Tae-young comforted Yujin and they shared life stories and their message lengths gradually grew. Yujin said, "Before I knew it we were talking for an hour. I think if I hadn't asked for his phone number first, we might not have been able to get married."
Especially, Yujin revealed the reason she decided to marry Ki Tae-young, saying, "If I married that man, I thought I would live well. I could picture marrying that man." She added, "I think we both had similar views on marriage. He's a somewhat sacrificial person."
