Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant' reveals the famed Jindo home cooking of singer Song Ga-in's parents.
The Sept. 26 broadcast of KBS 2TV Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant (hereafter "Fun-Staurant"/directed by Yoon Byung-il) continues last week's special with the second installment of the holiday special "mom's hands" for Chuseok. Alongside national dutiful son Kim Jae-joong and eternal mariner Park Tae-hwan, the contestant chef competing in the "mom's hands" special is trot goddess Song Ga-in. Song Ga-in, who won when she first appeared on Fun-Staurant, is expected to draw attention for what kind of performance she will show with her mother, who boasts powerful home-cooking skills.
In the VCR shown that day, Song Ga-in drove six hours down to her hometown Jindo where her parents live. Song Ga-in Road and Song Ga-in Park have become such landmarks in Jindo that Song Ga-in is famous there. At the so-called "Song Ga-in birth house" where her parents live, many tourists visited that day. Song Ga-in laughed awkwardly, saying, "I'm alive but my birth house has become a tourist spot."
Song Ga-in's parents prepared so many of her favorite foods that the table legs seemed about to bow for their daughter, who came home after a long time. The parents' continuing cooking skill, which handed down the "Jindo home cooking" to Song Ga-in, amazed everyone. Song Ga-in's mother made mulhoe by adding plenty of fresh abalone. Song Ga-in's father also neatly filleted a 3.5kg wild flatfish with a kitchen knife rather than a sashimi knife, surprising chef Lee Yeon-bok.
In addition, Song Ga-in's parents' fantastic back-and-forth and cooking rhythm stood out. The studio of Fun-Staurant burst into laughter at the parents' constant bickering while cooking together. The parents, after bickering, quickly turned affectionate and made Song Ga-in smile.
In particular, the doting father fed his wife tasty bites and nagged, "You must eat well," while saying he would do the dangerous knife work himself, showing his "romantic guy" side. When the Fun-Staurant members admired, "He's so sweet," Song Ga-in immediately exposed, "But they haven't been like that for long," provoking laughter.
With a sitcom-worthy rhythm between Song Ga-in's parents and their impressive dishes such as spicy pork stew, grilled eel, abalone mulhoe, flatfish sashimi, and kimchi, the parents' cooking and chemistry with Song Ga-in are expected to bring big laughs and enjoyment to viewers. The cheerful story of Song Ga-in's family will air on KBS 2TV Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant on Friday, Sept. 26, at 8:30 p.m.
