BigHit Music's rookie group CORTIS has brought three songs to the top of Spotify charts in about a month.
CORTIS (Martin, James, Juhun, Sunghyun, Geonho)'s debut album track "FaSHioN" took No. 1 for two consecutive days on Spotify's "Daily Viral Songs Global" chart (Sept. 22-23). In particular, on the country/region "Daily Viral Songs" charts, it is performing well, ranking No. 3 in the United States and No. 7 in Japan.
The "multi-hit" spanning the title track and album tracks stands out. Earlier, they reached No. 1 on the "Daily Viral Songs Global" chart with the title track "What You Want" (Sept. 1-7) and the intro track "GO!" (Sept. 9-11, 16-19). While those two songs remain in the upper ranks of the chart, "FaSHioN" took over the popularity baton. In addition, the album track "JoyRide" surprised by rising to No. 4 (Sept. 22-23).
Spotify's "Daily Viral Songs" chart ranks songs by aggregating data on tracks whose recent plays or share frequency have surged. It is an objective indicator that reads music market trends sensitive to fads most quickly. It is rare even for established groups to have three songs reach No. 1 in succession on this chart. Earlier, they entered Billboard's latest charts (Sept. 27), including the "Global 200" and "Global (Excluding U.S.)," proving their streaming power.
Meanwhile, "GO!" is showing fierce momentum on domestic charts. It held No. 1 for three consecutive days on Apple Music Korea's "Today's Top 100" (Sept. 21-23). The song became the first boy group debut this year to break into Melon's daily chart and has remained in the rankings for four days (Sept. 21-24), aiming to enter the weekly chart.
CORTIS is a rookie group introduced by BigHit Music, a label of HYBE music group chaired by Bang Si-hyuk. Their debut album "COLOR OUTSIDE THE LINES" surpassed cumulative sales of 500,000 copies on Hanteo Chart as of the 23rd. The album also reached No. 15 on the U.S. Billboard main albums chart, the "Billboard 200" (Sept. 27). Excluding project-type groups, this is the best debut album performance in K-pop group history.
