My Troublesome Star's Song Seung-heon left a deep impression on viewers until the end despite his mother's passing.
On the finale of the Genie TV original drama My Troublesome Star (directed by Choi Young-hoon, written by Park Ji-ha, planned by KT StudioGinie, produced by Jumbo Film and Studio Bom), which aired on the 23rd, Song Seung-heon played the role of Dok Go-cheol. He resolved incidents that had continued from the past and portrayed Dok Go-cheol's final story, in which he shared a warm ending with Bong Cheong-ja (played by Uhm Jung-hwa).
With Cheong-ja's memory returning, Dok Go-cheol fulfilled his duties to the end. He helped with her rehabilitation for her complete recovery, and in the process a close-contact situation occurred between them that created a romantic undercurrent. In addition, while investigating, Dok Go-cheol found and arrested Gwak Jeong-do (played by Park Jung-geun), who was attempting to stow away, and showed meticulousness by arranging a witness in advance to obtain testimony. He then strongly pressured Kang Du-won (played by Oh Dae-hwan), who was involved in the case, secured evidence and ultimately succeeded in obtaining an arrest warrant for lawmaker Min Guk-hee (played by Jeong Hae-gyun), the mastermind behind the case.
Afterward, Dok Go-cheol and Cheong-ja remained precious to each other. After solving the case, he attended an awards ceremony with Cheong-ja and showed enthusiastic support when she mentioned him in her acceptance speech. Also, during an interview after the awards, while Cheong-ja was answering about their relationship, Dok Go-cheol asked, "If I say we are people who can walk together into the light, would that be rude?" When Cheong-ja responded, they faced each other and ended with happy smiles, leaving a lingering impression until the end.
In this way, Song Seung-heon led the drama as Dok Go-cheol and delivered a variety of performances. With determined looks and a warm tone, he created excitement in his interactions with Cheong-ja, and when confronting enemies he generated tension with a powerful presence that provided catharsis. Also, Song Seung-heon's realistic facial expressions showing Cheong-ja's shining return from past to present drew emotional responses from viewers.
Meanwhile, Song Seung-heon's acting further heightened the drama's immersion. Even amid quarrels, he conveyed his genuine feelings for Cheong-ja through expression and action, and his grumbling yet revealing anxious tone produced laughs with its realism. At the same time, the detective's sharp side and unrestrained action increased the drama's appeal and made it hard to look away. This heavy-lifting performance by Song Seung-heon is also why viewers responded so positively. Expectations are rising for his future acting work.
Meanwhile, Song Seung-heon's mother, Moon Myeong-ok, passed away on the 21st at the age of 77. Song Seung-heon expressed his feelings on social media, saying, "Mom! You worked so hard all this time. Now rest comfortably where there is no pain. I will wait and wait for the day we meet again when I can hold you in my arms and freely say, 'I love you! I missed you!'"
