JYP Entertainment rookie KickFlip reached the top of the daily album charts for two consecutive days with their new mini album.
KickFlip released their third mini album My First Flip and the title track "The First Song I Sing" at 6 p.m. on Sept. 22 and made a comeback. This new release, which tells a slightly faltering first love story in KickFlip's own way, contains seven tracks richly showcasing the members' participation in writing and composing, drawing strong responses from K-pop fans. As evidence of this, it ranked No. 1 on domestic album tally site Hanteo Chart's physical album chart and Circle Chart's retail album chart for Sept. 22–23.
Imagining a confession under a sunset sky, member Donghyun worked on the title track "The First Song I Sing," which evokes fresh excitement and has drawn enthusiastic responses from listeners such as "a song that is youth itself" and "KickFlip's bittersweet, refreshing sensibility that blends well with the seasonal mood." Six hours after release, at midnight on the 23rd, it reached No. 1 on real-time chart Bugs, and tracks including "Band-Aid," "Singularity," "Again, Here," "Gas On It," "404: Not Found," and "It's a Secret That I Had a Nightmare" all charted in the upper ranks.
KickFlip, who lit up a wave of popularity with the new album, continued energetic comeback activities to keep the momentum. On the 23rd, they held "Billboard Korea Busking Live with KickFlip" on the outdoor stage at Yeouido Marina in Yeongdeungpo District, Seoul, and met fans. Performing their debut's first busking, they sang the title track "The First Song I Sing" with the Han River sunset behind them, raising the atmosphere, and presented live performances of the album tracks "Band-Aid" and "It's a Secret That I Had a Nightmare," sharing musical rapport with the audience. In a talk corner themed "firsts," they shared various episodes, showed lively banter and satisfied fans' affection.
KickFlip, who officially debuted in January with their first mini album Flip it, Kick it!, showed potential by consecutively releasing albums that members directly contributed to, including the second mini album Kick Out, Flip Now! in May and this third mini album My First Flip. Having delivered solid skills, passionate stage energy and cheerful personalities on stages such as Lollapalooza Chicago and Summer Sonic 2025, they have proven their capability as "K-pop super rookies," and anticipation is growing for how this new release will perform.
