WJSN (WJSN) member Dayoung celebrated a flawless solo debut by earning her first music show win with "body."
Dayoung won the Sept. fourth week "The Show Choice" on SBS funE's The Show, aired on the 23rd, with her new song "body," claiming her first music show trophy since debuting as a solo artist.
Through her agency Starship Entertainment, Dayoung said, "These days, thanks to the many people who love "body" every day feels like a dream, and receiving a "The Show Choice" trophy like this is overwhelming and I am so grateful. I want to sincerely thank everyone who worked hard to let me stand as a solo artist, the WJSN members, and above all our Ujung (official fan club name), who waited with unwavering faith; I want to tell them I am grateful and that I love them. This album being released and being able to receive a first-place trophy like this are all thanks to you."
I thought a lot about songs that contain my story and sincerity, and I reflected a great deal on the past nine years myself; in that process I gained conviction about the stage, and I hope those who hear my songs can gain confidence and courage. I have so much more to show as Dayoung, so please look forward to it a lot and join me on my new journey. Thank you!" she said.
On the day of the performance, Dayoung drew attention by premiering the album track "number one rockstar" for the first time. Along with a powerful live performance, she portrayed the brightest moments achieved through long effort and passion with varied performances using mirrors and tables. She then completed her own narrative by projecting an even more energetic and free mood with "body," leaving a strong impression.
In addition, Dayoung increased the significance of the moment by sharing the joy of first place with WJSN members who made a surprise visit to the encore stage, fellow agency member and The Show MC Cravity's Hyungjun, and the dancers who performed with her, presenting the "body" choreography together.
"body" is the title track of Dayoung's first solo digital single released on the 9th, "gonna love me, right?", and is a song that combines a rhythmic beat and an addictive chorus with Dayoung's refreshing vocals. Dayoung proved her remarkable growth through a clearer musical world as an artist and sincerity toward new challenges, capturing the hearts of many listeners and launching a successful solo debut.
After its release, "body" has appeared on major domestic music charts including Melon Top 100, Genie, Bugs, Flo, Vibe, and YouTube Music, and is expanding its global presence amid interest from major overseas media including Forbes, the U.K. music magazine NME, U.S. broadcaster FOX 13 Seattle and various countries' MTV channels.
As Dayoung raises the heat of her solo debut by communicating with fans in various ways such as short-form challenges, listening sessions and behind-the-scenes content, the revealed "number one rockstar" stage alongside her music show first place adds to expectations for her future activities.
