Ha Seung-ri plunges into chaos as a complicated family history and blunt confessions become intertwined.
The new KBS 1TV daytime drama "Marie and the unusual dads" (directed by Seo Yong-su, written by Kim Hong-joo), set to premiere in October, follows Marie's uproarious search for her father and depicts the birth of an unusual family whose bonds are stronger than blood and more tenacious than sperm.
Today (24th), Marie and the unusual dads released third and fourth teasers that highlight the characters who will lead the story. The third teaser captures the tense dynamic among the three fathers of Kang Mari (Ha Seung-ri): Lee Poong-ju (played by Ryu Jin), Kang Min-bo (played by Hwang Dong-joo) and Jin Gi-sik (played by Gong Jung-hwan), while the fourth teaser shows Mari and Kang Se (played by Hyun-woo) full of fluttering excitement, sparking curiosity about the drama.
Appearing with the line "I think cohabitation is better than marriage," Mari is taken aback when her medical school senior Kang Se suddenly confesses, "Do you want to live with me?"
Then the voices of Gi-sik, Poong-ju and Min-bo claiming Mari as their daughter follow, raising curiosity about Mari's sudden situation of having three fathers. Meanwhile, Mari faces the threat of injury, and as Poong-ju, Min-bo and Gi-sik simultaneously look at her, the tension reaches its peak.
While the third teaser was released, the fourth teaser places more weight on Mari's relationship with Kang Se than on her complicated family history. Appearing as if drunk, Mari fires a blunt question at Kang Se, "Senior, do you like me?" and Kang Se responds with unabashed flirting, hinting that their relationship will proceed in an exciting way.
On top of that, a scene shows Mari being slapped by her mother Ju Si-ra (played by Park Eun-hye) while shouting, "I told you, you don't have a dad!" which raises expectations for the turbulent story surrounding her. Her line, "I already have so many dad problems, why is my senior like this too," foreshadows the weary conflicts of youth torn between love and family, increasing anticipation among prospective viewers.
In this way, Marie and the unusual dads amplifies expectations for the drama's progress through the solid performances of actors such as Ha Seung-ri and Hyun-woo, as well as Park Eun-hye, Ryu Jin, Hwang Dong-joo and Gong Jung-hwan. Attention is focused on the spectacular process of finding the "real father" and the true meaning of family that will emerge at the end of that journey.
KBS 1TV's Marie and the unusual dads, following Catch Your Luck, will premiere on Monday, Oct. 13 at 8:30 p.m.
