, through the 'W Korea' channel, director Park Chan-wook revealed the casting backstory of Son Ye-jin.
On the 24th, a video titled "'No Other Choice' director Park Chan-wook, Son Ye-jin's decisive moment. What is the moment Park Chan-wook becomes most immersed in during the filmmaking process? by W Korea" was posted on the 'W Korea' channel.
I asked about the casting behind the scenes. Director Park Chan-wook said he was confident that the script gave sufficient weight, but he was most worried about whether (Son Ye-jin) would see it that way, saying, "I heard, as I expected, that 'a negative mood is lingering,'" which led Son Ye-jin to exclaim in surprise, "Did you think I met you to refuse? I didn't know, that's news to me."
Son Ye-jin said, "At first the role in advance was much smaller, but when I closed the script the intensity hit me," adding, "Even with that smallness, I felt overwhelmingly that I had to do it."
Park Chan-wook happily said, "I didn't know. Anyway, when I heard her say she'd do it, I couldn't control my expression." Son Ye-jin laughed, "Actually the director had a reluctant expression. I thought he wasn't happy," and said, "I'm hearing this misunderstanding here."
