Kang Soo-jung, HK$8 billion Repulse Bay house also damaged by typhoon…"The wind is tremendous, it's scary"
Broadcaster Kang Soo-jung shared the extreme weather conditions caused by the typhoon in Hong Kong on social media, drawing fans' attention.
On the 24th, Kang Soo-jung posted a photo looking out the window on her personal SNS. The terrace in the photo was soaked with rainwater, and fog and strong winds made the outside view almost invisible. Kang Soo-jung said, "Good thing I brought all the potted plants inside yesterday and put the chairs and table in," describing preparations before the storm, and added, "The wind is tremendous and it's scary," conveying the urgency at the scene.
On the same day, the Hong Kong Observatory issued the highest level typhoon signal, "Typhoon Signal No. 10." More than 700 flights have already been canceled due to the typhoon's impact, and schools have been closed since the 22nd, leaving the city largely paralyzed. The city is effectively shut down.
Kang Soo-jung began her career as a KBS announcer in the 28th class in 2002 and became known as an original "an-tainer." After marrying a husband from the financial sector in 2008, she moved to Hong Kong and has lived there for 15 years. Her home, located in Hong Kong's Repulse Bay, is known as an ultra-luxury dwelling with an estimated market value of around 8 billion won, drawing public attention. Last year, she also revealed her ocean-view home on KBS 2TV's Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant, generating buzz.
However, the typhoon revealed that even luxury dwellings had terraces turned into pools of water, and outdoor furniture and potted plants exposed to the wind were in danger, causing fans to worry.
On social media and online communities, internet users reacted in various ways. "Even that house can't stand up to a typhoon…hope they're safe," "People's safety comes first, Kang Soo-jung, please be careful," "The view was beautiful but just imagining the sound of the wind is scary," "I hope the typhoon passes quickly. I hope not only Kang Soo-jung's house but all of Hong Kong avoids damage," and other expressions of sorrow and concern poured in.
Kang Soo-jung calmly described her preparations amid the storm and conveyed a safety message to fans. With the city paralyzed by the typhoon, voices wishing that everyone would safely get through the storm like her own continued. Kang Soo-jung also said he regretted, "I was being dramatic yesterday because the weather was good; I'm reflecting on that. I hope it all passes by the afternoon," expressing her wish for the typhoon to dissipate quickly.
