Actress Uhm Jung-hwa shared her feelings about reuniting with Song Seung-heon after 10 years.
On the afternoon of the 23rd, at a café in Gangnam District, Seoul, a wrap-up interview was held with lead actress Uhm Jung-hwa for the Genie TV original drama "My Troublesome Star."
"My Troublesome Star" is a tearful, snot-flying, time-skipping romantic comedy about South Korea's top star who overnight becomes an ordinary middle-aged woman.
In the work, Uhm Jung-hwa plays Bong Cheong-ja, who is edited out for 25 years from the nation's first love Im Se-ra, and she shared romantic chemistry with Song Seung-heon, who plays Dok Go-cheol. In particular, the two drew much anticipation for reuniting 10 years after the 2015 film Miss Wife.
When asked about the difference from 10 years ago, Uhm Jung-hwa candidly replied, "What hasn't changed about Song Seung-heon is his appearance," eliciting laughter. She said, "He really looks almost the same as 10 years ago. How is that possible? His body too. Isn't there a scene when he takes off his top at Dok Go-cheol's house? Out of courtesy I decided I should avoid looking at Dok Go-cheol's body and just watch the top, but I found myself looking without realizing it. But his body was so handsome. I thought, 'He's so smooth.'"
She continued, "His appearance really hasn't changed, and what's changed is that Song Seung-heon's heart has become softer and broader. I felt that a lot. When he dealt with staff or talked with actors, I could see a somewhat different side compared to before," and said, "He was great before, but now he feels a bit more warm and comforting."
Uhm Jung-hwa also said of Song Seung-heon, "He seems a bit T. So he really likes teasing people. The funny part is, during the last movie I didn't realize he was such an entertaining character, but while filming this drama together for a long time I got to know his personality more. Later I even came to enjoy those jokes," and she joked, "(Song Seung-heon) told me I'm the same. There's nothing that different. As a polite exchange we said, 'Senior, how are you not changed like this?' and he said, 'Actor Song Seung-heon is the same.' The people next to us must have found it funny."
She said, "For mutually funny scenes or those moments, we rehearsed and came up with ideas, and Seung-heon had many funny ideas. Those parts helped a lot and were enjoyable."
When asked how it would feel to reunite in a project again 10 years from now, she responded positively, "It would be wonderful. How much will we have changed by then? We should have changed by then. If we can meet again it would be so nice."
Meanwhile, in "My Troublesome Star," actor Ji Jin-hee drew attention with a special appearance as Won-ban. Ji Jin-hee also worked with Uhm Jung-hwa in the 2009 KBS2 drama The Man Who Can't Get Married. Uhm Jung-hwa said, "It was my first time seeing actor Ji Jin-hee since that work. We couldn't bump into each other anywhere; it really felt like 15 years. We met after such a long time, and he really hadn't changed. His first greeting was, 'You exercise, right?' and I said, 'I'm doing it diligently.' It was a very pleasant set where conversation never stopped." (Continued in interview②)
