HYBE and Geffen Records' global girl group KATSEYE is writing a comeback fairy tale by continuously climbing the charts.
On the 23rd (local time), according to the latest chart published by Billboard on Sept. 27, KATSEYE's second EP "BEAUTIFUL CHAOS" track "Gabriela" ranked 45 on the main song chart "Hot 100."
The 45th spot is 12 places higher than the previous week and the highest position for a KATSEYE song on this chart. The momentum is fierce. "Gabriela" first entered the Hot 100 at 94 on the July 5 chart, stayed for three weeks, then re-entered the Aug. 23 chart at 76 and has been steadily rising for six weeks.
Their presence is even stronger on the song charts, which rank tracks based on streaming counts and digital sales (downloads) from more than 200 countries and regions worldwide. "Gabriela" rose six places this week to 16 on the Billboard "Global 200" and ranked 14 on the "Global (excluding U.S.)." Both are the highest positions since debut on those charts.
Another album track, "Gnarly," re-entered the Hot 100 this week at 97. It has appeared on the "Global 200" and "Global (excluding U.S.)" charts for 20 consecutive weeks, demonstrating solid staying power. "Gnarly" was released in April as a digital single ahead of the album. It is an unusual comeback for a song nearly five months after its release.
Bolstered by the popularity of the two songs, the album remains strong. KATSEYE's "BEAUTIFUL CHAOS" reached 30 on the main album chart Billboard 200, marking 12 consecutive weeks on the chart. It also proved continued album power by ranking 14 on Top Album Sales and 13 on Top Current Album Sales.
Their performance at Lollapalooza Chicago served as a catalyst for KATSEYE's popularity spread. The six members dominated the stage with an overwhelming performance, and related videos went viral on social media, sparking the chart rebound. Their record-setting continues not only on the U.S. Billboard charts but also on the U.K. Official Singles Top 100 and Spotify's Weekly Top Songs Global.
KATSEYE will embark on their first solo North American tour starting in November, with 16 shows in 13 cities including Minneapolis, Toronto, Boston, New York, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Sugar Land, Irving, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles and Mexico City. They will also appear on the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival stage in April next year.
KATSEYE is a group realizing "the globalization of the K-pop system" led by HYBE chairman Bang Si-hyuk. They were chosen through the global audition project The Debut: Dream Academy, which drew 120,000 applicants worldwide, and debuted in the United States last June based on HYBE America's training and development (T&D) system.
