Big Hit's group CORTIS topped domestic music charts.
CORTIS (Martin, James, Juhun, Sunghyun, Geonho)'s debut album intro track "GO!" rose to No. 1 on the latest (Sept. 21) Apple Music Korea "Top 100 of the day." The song entered at No. 81 on the day of release (Sept. 8) and steadily climbed, reaching the top in 13 days. In addition to "GO!" (No. 1), follow-up track "FaSHioN" (No. 5) and title track "What You Want" (No. 7) were in the top 10, marking multiple hits. The album track "JoyRide" (No. 28) also charted, showing broad popularity.
"GO!" is also performing well on Melon daily charts. It is the only song by a boy group that debuted this year to enter the Melon daily chart, debuting at No. 95 (Sept. 21). It also reached its personal best at No. 78 on the real-time "Top 100" chart at 9 a.m. on the 23rd.
Overseas listeners also reacted strongly. "GO!" has maintained more than 1 million daily streams for a week (Sept. 15-21) on Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform. Typically a song records the most streams shortly after release and then declines, but it is encouraging that this song's trend has been rising over time.
CORTIS performed the "GO!" choreography for a week during promotions for the title track "What You Want" on music shows. Several performances sparked a challenge craze on social media and gave a boost to the music charts. Riding the strong response, the song was revived on SBS's Inkigayo broadcast on the 21st, and on the 22nd the YouTube channel M2's "Relay Dance" showed the viral choreography in detail. From that point, "GO!"'s positions on major music charts surged.
Label Big Hit Music said, "We are grateful for the worldwide fans' interest in CORTIS. To repay that, we decided to show the "GO!" stage again on some music shows this week. We hope it will be a special gift for the fans."
CORTIS is a rookie group introduced by HYBE Music Group's label Big Hit Music, the first new group launched in six years. Their debut album "COLOR OUTSIDE LINES" recorded first-week sales of 436,367 copies on Hanteo Chart (sales in the week following release). That is No. 1 among this year's rookies and the fourth-highest first-week sales for a K-pop group's debut album in history.
