The first round of the main competition began, and 17-year-old Lee Ji-hoon, who is attending Kim Kwang-seok's alma mater, appeared. Lee Ji-hoon said he loves Kim Kwang-seok so much that he followed him to school, saying, "My dream is to be a minstrel. That's why I chose his alma mater. Fortunately, he was in front of my house."
Lee Ji-hoon said he began so-called "fan activities" at an early age, saying, "When I was in sixth grade, I went to Kim Kwang-seok Street and bought the best CD. I listened to it throughout puberty. I loved it enough to memorize every song and lyric."
Jung Jae-hyung asked whether his goal was Kim Kwang-seok, and Lee Ji-hoon said, "I don't want to imitate him. I'm also composing a lot of original songs. My goal later is to perform in a small theater. I prefer singing while making eye contact." He added that his mother is from Kazakhstan, saying, "My exotic looks once interfered with the audience's immersion. Since then I only wear brown-toned clothes."
Lee Ji-hoon said he chose Jin Jung's "Sunflower" because "I saw loneliness in Sunflower. It came to me as empathy and comfort." Jun Hyun-moo praised him, saying, "The answer is already minstrel."
When Lee Ji-hoon opened his mouth, Jung Jae-hyung wore a surprised expression. Lee Ji-hoon was also chosen by the 'top back gui' and passed. Jung Jae-hyung praised him, saying, "I was really surprised to hear that voice. I thought of Léo Ferré, I was so surprised. It's music from those who were active in the 1960s and '70s. It means he's feeling the lyrics deeply in his heart. The music was so good that I wondered if it was already complete. I thought, is this the person I've been looking for here?"
Cha Tae-hyun said, "I was the only one who didn't press (the buzzer). While listening to the song, rather than focusing on the appearance, there were moments that sounded like imitating Kim Kwang-seok. So I think I couldn't immerse myself. I personally wondered whether he was deliberately trying to look cool."
Jung Seung-hwan said, "When I heard the first verse, I worried, 'What if it feels like a derivative?' but rather I felt Ji-hoon's originality in the chorus." Jun Hyun-moo said, "It feels like Kim Kwang-seok's points have become ingrained in him. It's not an artificial imitation, but it seems to come out naturally."
After finishing the song, Lee Ji-hoon performed Kim Kwang-seok's "Those Days." Jung Jae-hyung said, "He said he would follow Kim Kwang-seok's path, but this is the first time I've seen someone this good," and Cha Tae-hyun offered a contrasting view, saying, "I don't know whether it will be a poison or a benefit. I think Lee Ji-hoon may be the biggest challenge for Our Ballad."
