Actor Rowoon shared his feelings about returning with a "shocking visual."
On the 23rd at the Elliena Hotel in Gangnam, Seoul, Disney+ held a production presentation for The Murky Stream. The event was attended by Rowoon, Shin Ye Eun, Park Seoham, Park Jihwan, Choi Gwi-hwa, Kim Dong-won and director Chu Chang-min.
The Murky Stream, Disney+'s first original historical series, which will be released on Sept. 26 (Fri), is an action drama about the fates of those who dreamed different dreams to overturn a corrupt world surrounding Gyeonggang, where all the money and goods of Joseon converge.
Director Chu Chang-min, who drew 10 million moviegoers in 2012 with King and the Clown, took the helm, and The Murky Stream is also attracting attention as Chu Chang-min's first series directing work. The screenplay was written by writer Cheon Sung-il, who returned to historical series 14 years after Chuno.
Rowoon plays Jang Si-yul, a bully of the Mapo ferry. Rowoon described the character, saying, "Si-yul is a person who lives hiding his past. The Si-yul I think of is someone whose name should not be called, a lonely wolf with no home to return to."
In particular, he returned in this work not only with a beard but also with a shocking visual. He joked, "I was also very surprised," as he returned with a different look through the work.
He added, "Before doing the makeup test, I once had a meal with the director. At that time the director told me, 'I want to take away your greatest weapon, 'being cool.'' So I was waiting inside. The time spent in makeup was fun, and about being able to show a different side, I thought, 'If only I work hard, I can act for a long time ahead.'"
Park Jihwan, who also played a bully alongside him, said, "Because our clothes were dirty, we could lie on the ground even if we were tired. We didn't have to wash and it wouldn't show. So being together, we smelled a lot. But actor Rowoon smelled good," drawing laughter.
