Group i-dle member Yuqi celebrated her birthday by giving fans a special gift.
Cube Entertainment released on the 23rd at 12 p.m. a special clip of the Chinese version of "Apuda" titled "痛" (haitongma), a track from Yuqi's first single "Motivation," on i-dle's (Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqi, Shuhua) official social media channels. The video was presented to coincide with Yuqi's birthday on Sept. 23, adding significance.
The released video shows Yuqi singing on stage in the "Apuda" music video, gripping the microphone with a complex expression under the lights. Yuqi captured attention by wistfully gazing into the void or steadily staring at the camera, expressing confused emotions.
In the earlier "Apuda" music video, Yuqi learns the truth that forced her lover to leave through a letter left in the waiting room, and they reunite as performer and audience. The special clip completes the music video's narrative by showing Yuqi singing "痛" (haitongma) on stage.
"痛" (haitongma) is the Chinese version of "Apuda," conveying honest emotions faced at the moment of parting. It is a rock song characterized by deeper, sincere lyrics and warm guitar sounds. While the Korean version depicted the sorrow of parting with lyrical expressions, the Chinese lyrics express the aching love more directly, delivering a deeper resonance.
The "Apuda" music video caused a strong reaction immediately after its release, ranking at the top of the overall music video chart on China's major music platform QQ Music. The subsequently released track reached No. 1 on Tencent Music's Korean-language chart, proving explosive interest from local fans. Yuqi's single "Motivation," which includes "Apuda," surpassed 410,000 in first-week sales (sales during the first week from the release date) and topped Hanteo Chart's album chart for the third week of September, achieving a notable result as a solo artist.
Yuqi released the single "Motivation" on the 16th and swept domestic and international music charts. She is meeting global fans by holding the comeback pop-up "YUQI 1st Single [Motivation] POP-UP," starting in Seoul.
