Group Wanna One alumni singers Lee Dae-hwi and Bae Jin-young mentioned a 10th-anniversary reunion.
On the 22nd, a new video was posted on the YouTube channel "Donghaemul and Baekdu Eunhyuk" titled "Wanna One, everyone back to their places!!! Lee Dae-hwi who planned the comeback and Bae Jin-young who agreed to take the lead."
That day Eunhyuk said, "Seong-woon came and talked about the Wanna One days in a fun way. Seong-woon said that time was really good," and added, "It seems that way, because the activity period was fixed. So the regrets must be big."
Lee Dae-hwi also complained, "I think we have felt affectionate since the start of our debut. Day by day we had to head toward a farewell. It was heartbreaking, and the fans who want to see the 11 of us don't know when they will be able to see us again. There were worries about that too."
Donghae asked bluntly, "Is there absolutely no chance (of a reunion)?" and Lee Dae-hwi replied, "Among us we always say we should definitely do it someday. The members are 100%." Eunhyuk then asked, "Is there a member who pushes that strongly?" and the two answered in unison, "It seems to be Seong-woon hyung."
They said the Wanna One group chat is still being maintained. Lee Dae-hwi expressed gratitude, "Seong-woon hyung and Min-hyun hyung talk the most. And I'm so grateful because the hyungs talk a lot and say, 'Kids, gather,' and set up broadcasts, so I'm very thankful."
They also mentioned specific plans for a reunion. Lee Dae-hwi said, "First, the hyungs all have to finish their military service," and added, "The time when the older-line hyungs are all out before the younger line enlists is 2027."
Bae Jin-young said, "That time will be just right," and Lee Dae-hwi interjected, "That is the 10th anniversary," suggesting the possibility of a 10th-anniversary reunion. Eunhyuk also laughed and said, "Fans will be really excited."
Lee Dae-hwi added, "That's why I'm very careful saying these things because I can't just make fans wait indefinitely. They say that what you say comes true, so maybe if we keep saying it like this, something might at least be made happen."
Meanwhile, the project group Wanna One is an 11-member boy group formed through Mnet's "Produce 101 Season 2" in 2017. It consisted of Kang Daniel, Park Ji-hoon, Lee Dae-hwi, Kim Jae-hwan, Ong Seong-wu, Park Woo-jin, Lai Kuan-lin, Yoon Ji-sung, Hwang Min-hyun, Bae Jin-young and Ha Sung-woon, and officially ended activities on Jan. 27, 2019.
Two years after disbandment, Wanna One reunited to perform a special stage at "2021 MAMA." At that time, 10 members except Lai Kuan-lin performed together, effectively showing a nearly full-group reunion stage. Since then, responses hoping for a Wanna One reunion have continued.
Relatedly, Ha Sung-woon confessed honestly, "We haven't taken a single step toward a reunion. Whenever we try to do something, someone keeps enlisting. When someone is about to be discharged, another goes in," and added, "Personally we have friends who are acting. Those friends aren't focusing much on this side. And they have done well. So they don't need to step into this."
Ong Seong-wu also mentioned the practical difficulties regarding a Wanna One reunion, saying, "Honestly, I would want to do it right away if I could," but adding, "There are friends serving in the military and friends who have to go. Lee Dae-hwi and Kang Daniel also have to go. Some friends have to go, so it would likely take a few years before something like a special concert could happen, so it seems difficult right now."
