On Channel A's 'Close Friend Note - Table for Four,' Gi Eun-se confessed the pain of having her leading role completely edited out and being a victim of unpaid wages.
On the 22nd episode of Channel A's 'Close Friend Note - Table for Four,' Gi Eun-se confessed the painful wounds she suffered while working as an actress.
That day she was asked whether she originally dreamed of becoming an actress. He said he pursued speaking professions such as announcer or reporter and "by chance when I was in high school I applied for a model contest. I came to Seoul from Daegu and placed third," and thus told the story of how she entered the entertainment industry. Gi Eun-se said, "On a day when I was taking acting classes, someone told me to become a singer. They listened to my singing ability, added another vocal member, and the three of us practiced at a rehearsal studio preparing to be an idol."
She went on to say she filmed a movie, "I went to the Philippines and lived there for a month and a half. After the shoot they told me to come see it. But I was notified that because the footage was long it would probably be completely edited out," meaning she had been cast as the lead but her scenes were cut entirely.
She also recounted that in a drama that had finished filming the cast was replaced after the preview screening, and in a drama she was appearing in her character was abruptly written off as going abroad to study, a story that drew sympathy from her close friends. Gi Eun-se said, "After the drama preview there was a director change, so it was pulled and all the roles were changed."
Gi Eun-se recalled her connection with MC Park Kyung-rim from the drama 'The Musical' 14 years ago. She said her first leading work ended without filming the ending due to internal circumstances, which left her very disappointed. The staff also couldn't film because they hadn't been paid. When Park Kyung-rim asked, "Didn't the actors not receive their pay either?" Gi Eun-se replied, "It's been so long I don't remember." Park Kyung-rim also recalled, "We practiced dance and singing hard for the final scene."
Gi Eun-se said, "There was a turning point I thought would be my last chance as an actress, but the drama failed for the fourth time due to unpaid wages. I thought, this doesn't work either," and "the actor's dream collapsed. The company collapsed and everything fell apart," recounting how she had to endure long waits during her unknown years and revealing the "threefold drop-out" episodes.
Gi Eun-se said, "I worked a lot in my 20s, but the result was essentially almost nothing; my 20s were a series of waiting periods," and "I thought about what makes me happy," sharing a positive mindset and saying, "By living life diligently, I began to see a new breakthrough; when social media appeared a different life unfolded." Gi Eun-se said, "When I showed what I was good at, it became work and I earned money. It was a life I couldn't even imagine then. I realized there isn't only one way to live; there are many ways. If you move diligently, I thought the heavens will give you a chance once."
Park Kyung-rim cheered, "You lived diligently, so the opportunity came."
