The shock waves from the death of a underage girl surrounding pop newcomer D4vd (real name David Anthony Burk·20) are growing.
According to recent U.S. outlet Daily Mail, D4vd and manager Josh Marshall abruptly canceled the lease for a monthly $20,000 rental dwellings in Hollywood Hills, Los Angeles (Hanwha about 27 million won). This house was raided and searched by the LAPD (Los Angeles Police Department) on the 17th, and investigators are reported to have seized evidence such as laptops.
The case surfaced on Sept. 8 when the badly mutilated body of 14-year-old Celeste Ribas was found in the front trunk of a Tesla registered to D4vd. Ribas had been missing since she ran away in May last year, and some acquaintances claim she had an inappropriate relationship with D4vd.
The house owner, Bladen Trifunovic, said, "This whole thing is a huge shock," adding, "I still can't accept the situation. I can't believe something like this happened in a safe neighborhood." He said, "The manager requested to terminate the lease, saying 'it's no longer possible to live there.'"
Ribas's brother told reporters, "My sister went out to see a movie with D4vd in May last year and never returned home." Photos believed to show Ribas with D4vd are spreading on social media, and authorities are verifying those pieces of evidence.
As a result of the incident, D4vd canceled his ongoing world tour. Interscope Records has also indefinitely postponed the planned album release.
The LAPD said, "Items seized in the search of the dwellings are currently being analyzed, and multiple leads are being followed." D4vd's side has not released an official statement but is reported to have hired high-profile Hollywood attorney Blair Burk and is cooperating with the investigation.
Meanwhile, a candlelight vigil honoring Ribas was held in front of her home, with citizens calling for the death of the bright, cheerful girl to be fully revealed.
