A Jeju girl, Lee Ye-ji, moved Cha Tae-hyun to tears with a deeply sincere song.
On the 23rd SBS premiered the new music audition Our Ballad.
Our Ballad operates on a system in which more than 100 of 150 Top Back Gui must press the button to pass, and Jun Hyun-moo said, "The average age is reportedly 18.2. The oldest is 26. They are very young," describing the contestants.
The preliminary round 1 began, and a variety of contestants showcased ballads with their own colors, including 19-year-old Lee Jun-seok, who entered KAIST early; 18-year-old Song Ji-woo, who was active on YouTube; 21-year-old Cheon Beom-seok, who dreamed of becoming a singer through K-pop Star; 21-year-old Min Soo-hyun; and 20-year-old Hong Seung-min, the youngest in a musical family.
In particular, the most attention-grabbing among them was 19-year-old Lee Ye-ji, who identified herself as a Jeju girl. Lee Ye-ji said she grew up in Jeju and came to Seoul to study music further.
Lee Ye-ji chose Im Jae-bum's "For You." While everyone expressed concern, Lee Ye-ji explained, "My father worked in delivery, and his commute time and my school start time overlapped, so I always rode my dad's truck to school. For three years the song that always came out was 'For You.' When I hear the song, Jeju scenery and my father driving come to mind."
Lee Ye-ji sang "For You" in a husky voice, and Cha Tae-hyun, who was listening, shed tears. Park Kyung-rim exclaimed, "She's really someone who doesn't cry," and Cha Tae-hyun marveled, "You are really amazing." Cha Tae-hyun explained why he cried, saying, "It's so funny. I thought of my driving father. That father's image is me. Will my daughter think like that? I thought I would die holding back tears. It's really cool."
Jun Hyun-moo said, "Today the highest score came out. It was 146 votes." Mimi added, "I felt liberated while listening to the song. I stood up without realizing it." Crush reviewed, "After the opening that felt like a monologue, it goes to a climax and I couldn't close my mouth. It's also a different style from the music I do, so I felt envious. I received a lot of good stimulation that made me want to perform boldly myself."
