Broadcaster Lee Sugeun's wife, Park Ji-yeon, left a meaningful message after a kidney retransplant surgery.
On the 22nd, Park Ji-yeon posted a photo with the words "If it's mine, it will come to me; if not, it will go to someone else."
The photo Park Ji-yeon posted quotes something Song Hye-kyo said on tvN's "You Quiz on the Block," in which Song Hye-kyo, appearing on a talk show for the first time in 23 years, talked about what she realized after five years of practice. It is interpreted as conveying the idea of not being greedy, and the fact that Park Ji-yeon posted this photo makes it even more meaningful.
Earlier, Park Ji-yeon had received a kidney transplant from her father after her kidneys were damaged as a result of complications from preeclampsia during her second pregnancy in 2011, but the transplant did not take well, and she endured painful dialysis treatment for more than 10 years.
When doctors recommended a kidney retransplant in 2021, Park Ji-yeon initially strongly refused because of the pain from the first surgery, but she reluctantly changed her mind after being told that advances in technology and improved medications could change her quality of life and applied to be on the waiting list for a brain-dead donor. Park Ji-yeon decided to undergo a second surgery to receive a kidney from her older brother in mid-August.
Before the surgery she received encouragement from many people, and she was admitted to the hospital on the 18th of last month for the operation. At the time, Park Ji-yeon said, "Because I am taking immunosuppressants, I will refrain from going out for several months and stay away from my phone for a while to have some time to think only about myself. I'll get in touch slowly after I return. I'll take care of myself for a while and recover well."
Because she posted the photo after the surgery with the words "If it's mine, it will come to me; if not, it will go to someone else," it inevitably comes across as more meaningful.
Meanwhile, Park Ji-yeon is married to Lee Sugeun and they have two sons.
