On Running Man, Kim Jong-kook drew attention by revealing that he personally grabbed the microphone for the bride and sang a congratulatory song.
On the episode of SBS entertainment show Running Man that aired on the 21st, Kim Jong-kook shared the behind-the-scenes story of his self-performed congratulatory song.
Kim Jong-kook married a non-celebrity woman on Sept. 5. Of all times, his close friend arrived three days after the wedding, and Kim Jong-kook was nervous, unsurprisingly. The topic of Kim Jong-kook's congratulatory song came up. Someone said of the congratulatory song Kim Jong-kook sang himself, "It was the best congratulatory song, the congratulatory song was done by Kim Jong-kook."
A later account said it was a live band. Kim Jong-kook replied, "Actually, I rehearsed the congratulatory song for the first time just an hour before," and Haha said, "Jong-kook hyung's congratulatory song was the best I've ever seen," even mentioning, "Now the 'Lovable' has found its owner," which suggested Kim Jong-kook chose "Lovable" as the congratulatory song.
Also that day, he originally planned to perform a self-serenade congratulatory song, but Cha Tae-hyun's second congratulatory song followed. After the self-congratulatory song ended, he clumsily proposed to Cha Tae-hyun a two-character offering of the "I love you" song. The members said, "Everyone cried hearing that song," noting, "Cha Tae-hyun was even dancing, and people were moved to tears because they know what kind of friendship those two have," and they were touched watching the spontaneous display of 30 years of genuine friendship. Everyone then said, "Even the groom didn't cry," revealing that Kim Jong-kook himself did not cry at the wedding, which drew laughter.
Cha Tae-hyun said, "But as soon as I grabbed the mic I was told to spin it quickly; I was anxious having been put on the spot," and Kim Jong-kook replied, "It was to hurry so I wouldn't say anything foolish," which made people laugh. Regarding suddenly proposing a second congratulatory song to Cha Tae-hyun, Kim Jong-kook explained, "When friends in the Year of the Dragon club got married, we always did something," adding, "This time the Year of the Dragon club did nothing at all, so for a moment I felt I had to do something."
Haha said, "It's a pity Jang Hyuk hyung didn't do a boxing congratulatory dance beside him," and Yoo Jae-suk laughed, asking, "But why did Jang Hyuk come wearing a hermit crab hat?" Everyone said, "Maybe to hide when he cried, thinking he'd cry," and Kim Jong-kook said, "Jang Hyuk always has to wear it; it's part of his setup," which drew laughter.
