At the 4th Blue Dragon Series Awards, the unprecedented on-air mix-up over a name remains a hot topic, and actor Lee Jun-young's candid feelings have surfaced, drawing attention with an unexpected twist.
Earlier, at the ceremony held in July, the winner of the Global Popular Star Award was actor Lee Jun-hyuk, but a mishap occurred when Lee Jun-young, whose name is similar, came onto the stage. Host Jun Hyun-moo tried to manage the situation by saying, "It's Lee Jun-hyuk. Lee Jun-young has come out," but some netizens strongly criticized his attitude, saying "it was mocking" and "there was no apology," and his social media was flooded with demands to "apologize."
However, Lee Jun-young himself appeared on SBS entertainment show Miwooneuri Saekki on the 21st, opened up about his feelings at the time and said, "After I got off the stage I told Jun-hyuk that I was so sorry. I was so embarrassed I wanted to go home before the second part started." He added, "Seniors I had never met comforted me, saying 'that was funny.'"
Still, Lee Jun-young confessed frankly, saying, "What was more hurtful was that senior Shin Dong-yup brought that up again on the second-part stage," and "I felt so resentful that I thought, 'Don't mention it…' while I was washing up at home," eliciting laughter. Shin Dong-yup asked, "How much must you have resented it then?" and Lee Jun-young recounted the situation, saying, "The next day at the airport I was grateful that someone recognized me and said, 'Lee Jun-young.'"
In the end, Lee Jun-young, who was at the center of the mishap, said, "What was more hurtful was Shin Dong-yup," naming a different episode rather than Jun Hyun-moo, suggesting that contrary to online opinion, the atmosphere at the scene ended on a notably warm note.
