Singer Shin Seung-hoon expressed his feelings about returning with a full-length album after 10 years to mark his 35th debut anniversary.
On the afternoon of the 22nd at the Novotel Ambassador Seoul Gangnam in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, a press conference was held to commemorate the release of Shin Seung-hoon's 12th studio album 'SINCERELY MELODIES'.
That day Shin Seung-hoon said of this album, "If it's the 35th anniversary of my debut, I didn't want to make it like a remake album that digs up past glories to commemorate and celebrate and say 'I was this kind of person.' I wanted to fill it with 11 new songs to show that I'm still a singer in progress. So I released 11 new songs," he confessed.
He said, "The release is one day away. All tracks will be released tomorrow at 6 p.m., and I'm excited and happy. A few days ago I recorded Immortal Songs and felt so sorry. When I was on stage the people in front of me clapped and were so glad to see me. I felt sorry. I made these people wait. When younger singers came to my room and asked to take photos together and for my number, I realized I had been living so detached from them and felt welcomed. Tomorrow I have to record The Seasons - 10CM's 'Ssedam Ssedam.' When I go there I'll see younger singers and Kwon Jeong-ryeol too. I want to promote with that feeling, half excitement, half joy," he said.
He continued, "So far many of my songs have been about love and parting. I played the role of a messenger. People would play my songs when confessing or listen when sad and say 'that's my story.' Now that I'm at an age past autumn if life has four seasons, there were things I couldn't write before. I wondered, 'Can I write this at my age? What do I know?' But at this point there were stories I wanted to tell," he said.
He added, "Among the four seasons there were times of beauty and times of fierce struggle. Like everyone, there is love, friendship and life, so I thought I should bring those up. This time I wanted to define, to some extent, love, parting, friendship, friends, then mother, and all those emotions. I wanted to try putting those definitions into melody rather than make it philosophical, so I used a lot of that expression. It feels particularly meaningful," he said.
Meanwhile, Shin Seung-hoon's 12th studio album 'SINCERELY MELODIES' will be released tomorrow (23rd) at 6 p.m.
