Song Seung-heon cancels end-of-series interview after mother's death, plunged into deep mourning
Actor Song Seung-heon canceled his scheduled drama end-of-series interview. It was because he was plunged into deep mourning by the sudden news of his mother's death.
On the 21st, his agency King Kong by Starship said, "Actor Song Seung-heon's mother, Moon Myeong-ok, has passed away. She was 77," and added, "All funeral procedures will be held privately. Please offer warm condolences to actor Song Seung-heon and his family."
Song Seung-heon, the youngest of two sons and a daughter, is staying at the funeral home with his siblings to receive visitors. The news of his mother's death, delivered as the drama approached its finale, came as a great shock and sorrow to fans and colleagues. Some fans said, "It is so heartbreaking that she passed away before being able to finish watching the drama her son appeared in," and offered prayers for the deceased.
Song Seung-heon was appearing as detective-manager Dok Go-cheol in Genie TV original drama "My Troublesome Star," which is scheduled to end on the 23rd. The show began with a 1.3% rating for its first broadcast (according to Nielsen Korea) and gradually gained word of mouth, surpassing 4% and continuing an upward trend. Accordingly, Song Seung-heon was scheduled to be interviewed by reporters on the 25th, the day after the finale, to talk about the work.
However, it became difficult for him to do interviews immediately after the funeral, and he ultimately canceled the schedule to continue mourning his mother.
Earlier, in 2020 Song Seung-heon revealed photos of his parents in their youth and left a message saying, "Beloved father and mother! I am happy to be your son. Please stay healthy together for a long, long time," showing his special family affection. At the time, the parents' striking looks that were revealed became a major topic and hinted at the roots of Song Seung-heon's "male-god visuals."

The funeral hall is set up in Room 17 of the Samsung Medical Center funeral hall in Seoul, and the cremation will be held at 9:30 a.m. on the 23rd.
