Actor Song Seung-heon canceled a scheduled interview amid his grief over his mother's death.
According to reporting by OSEN on the 21st, Song Seung-heon decided to cancel the finale interview for the Genie TV original drama "My Troublesome Star," which had been scheduled for the 25th.
Earlier that day, news of Song Seung-heon's mother's death was reported, shocking many. She was 77. Song Seung-heon, the youngest of two sons and one daughter, is keeping vigil at the funeral hall with his siblings and receiving mourners.
Over the years Song Seung-heon has shown deep affection for his parents through broadcasts and social media. In 2020 he posted a photo of his parents with the words "Beloved father, mother! I am happy to be your son! Please stay healthy with me for a long time like now! I love you."
As news of the sudden death of his mother spread, waves of condolences from fans and colleagues followed. Song Seung-heon was scheduled to give a finale interview for the drama "My Troublesome Star" on the 25th. "My Troublesome Star," airing as an ENA Monday-Tuesday drama, is a romantic comedy about Korea's top star who overnight becomes an ordinary middle-aged woman, a tear- and laughter-filled story that erases years in an instant, and it is set to air its final episode on the 23rd.
"My Troublesome Star" started with a premiere rating of 1.3% (Nielsen Korea, nationwide paid households) and, as the story developed, gained word-of-mouth and continued a rising viewership trend, now surpassing 4% and drawing favorable response. Accordingly, the lead actor Song Seung-heon was scheduled to meet reporters on the 25th, after the drama's finale, to talk about the work and bring it to a close.
But because of the heartbreaking news of Song Seung-heon's mother's death, the interview was also canceled. With the funeral procedures just concluded, Song Seung-heon plans to continue mourning his mother instead of doing interviews.
