Singer the late Woo Hye-mi, who moved everyone with her voice, died six years ago. Because she was actively communicating with fans and had a new song about to be released until shortly before she passed, the sorrow and longing are deeper.
The late Woo Hye-mi was found dead at her home in Mapo District, Seoul, on Sep. 21, 2019. She was 31.
The cause of death of the late Woo Hye-mi was not made clear. Her agency said, "She passed away at home. We are sorry to share this sad news."
The news of the late Woo Hye-mi's death was a bigger shock because she had been actively communicating with fans up until her death. Even four days before her death, the late Woo Hye-mi showed close relationships by promoting a fellow singer's new song on her social media.
The late Woo Hye-mi was also about to release a new song, and according to her agency at the time, she did not attend a meeting with people involved in the new single's music video and could not be reached by phone, which added to the regret.
The late Woo Hye-mi became known in 2012 on Mnet's "The Voice Korea" season 1. At the time, she was chosen by Baek Ji-young and Gil for her powerful vocals and individuality, and in 2015 she debuted under Leessang's agency using the name "Miu." The late Woo Hye-mi released the debut single "Ugly Doll" and continued participating as a featured artist on Leessang's songs, carrying on her music activities.
In particular, as recently as a month before her death she released her first EP, for which she wrote, composed and arranged songs herself, proving her ability as a singer-songwriter and drawing attention as a promising artist.
In response to the news of the late Woo Hye-mi's death, Son Seung-yeon said, "Unni was the most unique of the singers I know, an artist, and a natural musician who was good at writing and composing. I hope she now does everything she wanted and rests peacefully." Son Seung-yeon appeared on Immortal Songs with Yoo Seong-eun, Lee Ye-ji and Ji Se-hee and sang in tribute to the late Woo Hye-mi, creating a heavy atmosphere. At the time they said, "We always think of ourselves as five people when we sing," expressing their longing for the late Woo Hye-mi.
Even though six years have passed, because of those who miss the late Woo Hye-mi, she still remains in everyone's hearts.
