"Let's Go Go season 5" actor Lee Min-young revealed the age she began as a child actor.
On the 20th episode of the MBN real variety show "Let's Go Go season 5" (hereafter "Let's Go Go"), the set of the MBN Wednesday-Thursday miniseries "First Lady" was revealed, featuring lead actress Yujin as well as Lee Min-young and Shin So-yul.
Shin So-yul plays a reporter in this drama, portraying a cool-headed and critical character. However, the audition did not immediately result in casting. Shin So-yul said, "This drama didn't come to me directly. The script came to my agency, but I visited them and said I wanted this role. But the director told me that a reporter role didn't suit me. He saw me as too young."
Shin So-yul said proudly, "So I became determined, met the director, became driven, read the script myself and felt like I fought for it." Seeing this, Lee Min-young said, "From the script reading I really thought a reporter had come. Her vocal delivery was different and it was so cool," adding that it was natural for Shin So-yul to take the role.
Seeing the set, Jasson, who found it fascinating, asked, "How do you practice acting?" Lee Min-young said, "You absolutely read the script a lot. I even sleep with the script beside me. You always have to carry the script," and showed their mini scripts.
Jasson asked, "When acting, don't you watch the other person's acting?" Shin So-yul coolly replied, "I actually often watch my husband's kisses. He's a musical actor, so I often see kisses in real-stage situations." Shin So-yul's husband is musical actor Kim Ji-cheol.
Ahn Jung-hwan asked, "But wouldn't that make you feel a little hurt?" Shin So-yul said, "In the drama my ex-husband remarries, and that ex-husband actor took care of another actor first in the waiting room. That made me a bit hurt," adding that she became even more immersed in her on-screen husband.
Yujin felt the same. Lee Min-young said, "Even when you watch a kissing scene, I think people either get absorbed by the atmosphere or they don't," and Yujin said, "When I watch a kissing scene I notice whether the nose was squashed or at what angle it appears; I think I focus on the technical aspects," saying she views it entirely as a job.
That day, Ahn Jung-hwan and Jasson were served samgyetang on the set. Lee Min-young said, "Jihun-woo and Yujin often receive coffee trucks and also give them, so I wanted to treat them to a meal at least once," adding, "Let's have the samgyetang I prepared."
Ahn Jung-hwan asked Lee Min-young when she began as a child actor. Lee Min-young said, "I worked as a child actor from age 4. My aunt took me after seeing a newspaper ad recruiting advertising models, and I won an award. Then a film company contacted me and I debuted in the movie 'Baram-euro Gan Jangmi' (Rose That Went to the Sea)," which surprised Jasson because his son Jun-beom is 4 years old.
Lee Min-young said, "I acted only until fifth grade, then in my first year of university I took the open recruitment exam again and started acting," saying that her full-fledged return began then.
