On the 21st broadcast of TV Chosun's "Sikgaek Heo Young-man's Baekban Journey" (hereafter "Baekban Journey"), Tae Jin-ah appeared as a guest and updated viewers on his wife, who is fighting dementia.
Previously, Tae Jin-ah appeared on "Chosun's Love Soldier" and revealed how steadfastly he stayed by his wife's side as she battled dementia. At that time, his wife did not even recognize who Tae Jin-ah was, and he carefully tended to her by placing photos of himself around the house so she would not forget his face.
On the day, Heo Young-man cautiously asked, "I heard your wife has been ill for a long time." Tae Jin-ah replied, "My wife has been suffering from dementia for six years. But dementia is the worst disease in the world," he began.
Tae Jin-ah said, "Once my wife got up to go to the bathroom and fell. She slipped and fractured her arm. I felt so sorry that she wore a cast for more than a month. Since then, when my wife and I sleep in the bed, I tie a string to my right hand. If she gets up to go to the bathroom, doesn't it pull the arm? Then I wake up from sleep," he said.
Above all, Tae Jin-ah said, "Because so many people cheer for us like this, thanks to that support, the dementia stopped about six months ago. Her spirit is coming back little by little. I'm so grateful. She has gotten much better," he updated.
Meanwhile, Tae Jin-ah expressed longing for the late Song Dae-gwan. He described himself as an effortful singer who became one later in life and said, "Song Dae-gwan senior was neither acquired nor innate but in the middle," referring to the late Song Dae-gwan as an eternal rival and companion.
Then he choked up, saying, "Whenever Song Dae-gwan senior is mentioned, I miss him." He added, "In my case, I will only forget Song Dae-gwan senior when I die. He will remain in my heart forever."
When Heo Young-man said, "He probably saved a good spot for you up there," to console him, Tae Jin-ah replied, "I already told him. I told him to save a good spot," which moved listeners.
Meanwhile, the late Song Dae-gwan died Feb. 2 at the age of 78. The late singer visited the emergency room before his death due to unstable condition but died of cardiac arrest during treatment.
