KBS 'Immortal Songs' Shin Seung-hoon proves he is truly a "frozen man" with a look unchanged from as much as 33 years ago. Not only that, his chatty side is revealed as he typically calls juniors and talks for currency-long periods of an hour.
KBS2 'Immortal Songs' (directed by Park Hyung-geun, Kim Hyung-seok, Choi Seung-beom, hereafter "Immortal Songs") is undeniably the top music variety program, holding the same-time ratings No. 1 spot for nearly 14 years. The episode airing today (20th) finds viewers with the "Artist Shin Seung-hoon" edition.
Among them, singer juniors confess their difficulties with calls with Shin Seung-hoon, drawing attention. That day, Daybreak's Lee Won-seok, Jung Joon-il, and Ahn Shin-ae naturally brought up call stories while boasting of their special friendships with Shin Seung-hoon. Lee Won-seok, who said he formed ties through music shows, opened by saying, "If you call once, it typically goes over an hour. Most of it is about music, and he still has a lot of curiosity and things he wants to do."
Unable to hold back laughter, Ahn Shin-ae testified, "I had stew on for dinner when I took the call, but when the call ended it had gone cold. The broth had reduced." Not to be outdone, Jung Joon-il said, "Actually, recently I deliberately didn't answer a call. I checked that a call came and covered my phone about twice," delivering a straight shot like "Immortal Songs'" unofficial "Sniper Jung" and provoking roars of laughter.
Meanwhile, Shin Seung-hoon amazed everyone by showing off beauty at the level of a "frozen man." That day, Shin Seung-hoon revealed past photos from 1992 and boasted a look that still holds up. When MC Shin Dong-yup jokingly picked out his hairstyle and said, "I suspected it might be a wig," Shin Seung-hoon replied slyly, "I've heard that a lot, even my mother said that." In particular, when Shin Dong-yup asked, "How do you manage your skin?" Shin Seung-hoon turned the scene into a sea of laughter with an unexpected tip: "Just don't go out much. Absolute sunblock."
Meanwhile, Shin Seung-hoon, the subject of this "Artist Shin Seung-hoon" episode, is a national singer known as the "emperor of ballads," the very figure who shook the 1990s Korean pop scene. For this episode, juniors from various genres who follow Shin Seung-hoon's musical world will gather to sing his classics again. With the unofficial subtitle "vocal war," audiences can expect all-time great stages from trendsetting musicians. Ten teams in total will take the stage: Daybreak, Jung Joon-il, Lim Han-byeol, Huh Gak, Son I Ji-yu, Ahn Shin-ae, Yoo Chae-hoon, Jung Seung-won, YOUNG POSSE, and Jo Jazz.
