The group's new special unit SEVENTEEN's S.Coups X Mingyu surprised fans by revealing part of the new release's title track audio and some choreography, heightening expectations for their comeback.
S.Coups X Mingyu posted a challenge video for the title track of their mini 1st album HYPE VIBES, "5, 4, 3 (Pretty woman) (feat. Lay Bankz)," on SEVENTEEN's official social media on the 19th.
First, part of the new song's audio was revealed for the first time, catching attention. A lively disco sound is added to a melody that interpolates Roy Orbison's hit song "Oh, Pretty Woman," well known as the theme of the film Pretty Woman, which raises excitement. In addition, the members' sophisticated vocal colors and the crisp featured rap by U.S. Gen Z hip-hop artist Lay Bankz amplify the song's appeal.
The choreography also captures the bright and upbeat mood of the title track. S.Coups X Mingyu deliver buoyant energy as they step rhythmically and ride the groove. The choreography cleverly expresses the lyric "She on fire" with a fan gesture, drawing attention. The pair freely enjoy the music and create a mood anyone would want to join, foreshadowing a challenge craze.
The reaction has already been hot. The video surpassed 10 million views in about 13 hours after it was released. Fans showed enthusiastic interest with comments such as "It's short but addictive," "The choreography is hip and cute. Already a stage I'm looking forward to," "A surprising charm from the hip-hop team," and "hot guy unit."
The mini 1st album HYPE VIBES by S.Coups X Mingyu, to be released on the 29th, contains a hot and free atmosphere that anyone can enjoy and connect with. The two participated in writing and composing all the tracks, including "5, 4, 3 (Pretty woman) (feat. Lay Bankz)," filling the new release with their tastes and sensibilities.
A pop-up to commemorate the album release will also be held. According to HYBE Music Group label Pledis Entertainment (chairman Bang Si-hyuk), the event will take place from Sept. 30 to Oct. 5 on the 6th floor of Yongsan I'Park Mall.
