Home Alone in which SHINee Key shared a painful family history.
On the 19th broadcast of MBC variety show Home Alone, Key appeared.
That day SHINee Key revealed that his paternal grandfather, paternal granduncle and maternal grandfather were all national veterans. Arriving at the National Yeongcheon Patriotic Cemetery, Key said, "My paternal grandfather participated in the June 25 war," and said, "September is a meaningful month for me, so I came to visit my grandfather and grandmother after a long time."
Perhaps because of that. He proceeded quietly with a solemn heart. His not playing music drew attention.
Key said that following his paternal grandfather, his paternal granduncle who participated in the June 25 war and his maternal grandfather who participated in the Vietnam War are also at the patriotic cemetery, surprising everyone. Key said, "My grandfather was shot in the war and suffered an ankle injury; he was recognized by the state for his service and after he passed away in 2005 he was enshrined at the patriotic cemetery."
In particular, Key said, "When I was young, the whole family went to see the movie Taegukgi," and added, "My grandfather cried so much he couldn't watch it; he said it was less than one-tenth of the real thing," which made the brutal memories of the war palpable. Key recalled, "It was elementary school, but the memory is vivid."
