Singer Kim Gun-mo is drawing more attention as news that he will return after a six-year hiatus emerged, and updates on his current condition were also reported.
Jazz pianist Yang Tae-kyung revealed his recent situation on social media on the 19th, recounting his meeting with Kim Gun-mo. Yang said, "I went to Peppertones' rehearsal studio and accidentally ran into hyung Kim Gun-mo. The moment he saw me he asked, 'Taekyung's uncle?' and reached out to shake my hand. He said in polite speech that he also watches YouTube," recounting the unexpected reunion.
He added, "About 10 years ago at Open Concert, he cleverly covered for me when I made a mistake. He was a gentle, cool, truly great senior," bringing up memories from the past.
Yang said, "He went through a briefly difficult time but ultimately overcame it and is said to be returning to the stage. He is such a musical genius that his concerts will certainly go well," expressing respect and support. He also released a photo taken with Kim Gun-mo and added, "His smiling 모습 is so stylish. I hope he will be happier going forward."
Kim Gun-mo officially announced his return last month by revealing a nationwide tour concert. This event marks his first activity in about six years since he stopped activities completely after being accused of sexual assault in 2019. He was cleared of legal charges in 2021, two years after the accusation, but went through a difficult time that included marriage to and divorce from pianist Jang Ji-yeon.
Starting with the Busan performance on the 27th, the tour will continue in major cities nationwide including Daegu in October, Daejeon in December, and Seoul in January next year. According to Yang Tae-kyung, Kim Gun-mo is currently devoted to rehearsals and preparing his comeback stage. For fans who have waited a long time, the moment to finally confirm the return of the "king of singers" is approaching.
