The new KBS 1TV daily drama Marri and the Unusual Dads, set to premiere in October (directed by Seo Yong-su, written by Kim Hong-ju), follows Marri's long search for a father! It is a drama that depicts the birth of an unusual family whose bonds are thicker than blood and more tenacious than sperm.
Ryu Jin, Hwang Dong-ju and Gong Jeong-hwan play, respectively, the father candidates for Kang Marri (played by Ha Seung-ri): Lee Poong-ju, Kang Min-bo and Jin Gi-sik. The three men, tangled by bad karma, bare their teeth whenever they meet and are expected to show an enemy chemistry.
On the 19th (today), Marri and the Unusual Dads released stills showing the diverse looks of Ryu Jin, Hwang Dong-ju and Gong Jeong-hwan, raising anticipation for upcoming story developments. Ryu Jin captures attention with superior physicality and a dandy vibe befitting a charismatic doctor. Meanwhile, Hwang Dong-ju perfectly pulls off flashy outfits and reveals Min-bo's emotions through every expression. Gong Jeong-hwan, meanwhile, exudes presence in a suit in one still and provokes laughter in another by lying on the floor in a doctor's gown.
Poong-ju, head of the blood oncology department and the brother of Lee Kang-se (played by Hyun-woo), who got caught up in an unprecedented paternity scandal centered on Ju Si-ra (played by Park Eun-hye); Min-bo, who returned to Korea as a famous painter after divorcing Si-ra; and Gi-sik, Marri's uncle and an ambitious obstetrics and gynecology director. Even from just a few photos, the three men's characters are predictable, and curiosity is already growing about their full-of-personality character play and the conflicts that will arise among them.
Ryu Jin, Hwang Dong-ju and Gong Jeong-hwan bring energy to Marri and the Unusual Dads with three distinct charms. As the truth about the incident involving Marri is revealed, the three dads will drive the drama with lines that are sometimes comic and sometimes tense. Attention is focused on the poignant paternal love and deep emotional resonance delivered by the three actors, who boast wide acting ranges.
