Singer and actress Hyeri achieved the feat of winning both the newcomer and popularity awards at the 2025 Buil Film Awards, 10 years after Reply 1988.
On the 18th at Signiel Busan in Haeundae District, Busan, at the 34th Buil Film Awards, Hyeri won both the Best New Actress award and the female Star of the Year award for the film Victory.
Earlier on the red carpet, when asked which award she would want if she could only win one of the popularity or newcomer awards, Hyeri said, "I don't want to miss out on either," opening up. Hyeri said, "I'm greedy so I don't want to miss out on either, but many people were nominated for the newcomer award for Victory. So I'm somewhat eager for the newcomer award, and the popularity award is given by the fans, so I'm eager for that too," expressing her honest feelings.
Hyeri's eagerness paid off. First, Hyeri won the Best New Actress award for Victory. Hyeri said, "I received the newcomer award. I'm really, really happy today," expressing surprise and then saying, "While playing Pil-seon I received a lot of comfort. I wanted to offer comfort and support with this film, but it feels like I received support instead."
In particular, Hyeri said, "While filming this movie I want to say thank you to actress Park Se-wan. I really leaned on her and received support. I want to sincerely thank my close friend Park Se-wan and share the joy of this award with the Millennium Girls. I'm so happy," and became choked up.
She added, "I want to thank the staff and company people who helped me receive this award. I want to be a proud daughter and older sister to my family watching at home. I will continue to work hard at acting to become an actor who leaves a mark on Korean cinema."
After receiving the Star of the Year award, Hyeri also said, "I'm so excited. I will work harder to remain popular going forward."
After becoming a two-time winner, Hyeri first went to share her joy with fans. On the same day through her personal account he said, "Today I am the happiest person in the world = Lee Hyeri," and "I dedicate this honor to all the Totori people who recognized Victory and brought Pil-seon to life. Meanwhile, the film Victory, in which Hyeri appeared, is a work that opened last August and tells the story of Pil-seon and Mina, a school dance combo at the southern tip of Geoje at the end of the 20th century in 1999, who formed the cheerleading club "Millennium Girls" solely to dance and put on passionate cheering with dance and music.
