Attorney and broadcaster Seo Dong-ju confessed to the pain and candid feelings she has experienced during infertility treatment.
On Aug. 18, Seo Dong-ju released a video on her YouTube channel "Seo Dong-ju's Tto.Do.Dong" titled "Infertility vlog: waiting for a baby that doesn't come, the end of summer spent with family."
In the video she said, "I had an egg retrieval procedure this morning. I'm going through a very difficult time," and added, "Although egg retrieval procedures often appear on broadcasts, they are by no means easy. I can endure the pain from the injections themselves, but the moments of disappointment or despair hurt more."
She continued, "There were times before when the follicles hardly grew and retrieval wasn't possible, and times when only one or so came out at most," and added, "I worried a lot this time too, but fortunately the follicles grew well and two were retrieved. Knowing that retrieval is not the end, it's still a difficult period, but at the same time I think it's a precious time and I'm holding on well."
Seo Dong-ju, the daughter of Seo Se-won, married a man six years her senior who graduated from Harvard University in 2010, but announced their divorce in 2018. She later graduated from the University of San Francisco School of Law, obtained local attorney qualifications, and currently works as an international partner attorney at a major domestic law firm.
On Jun. 29, she remarried Ji Young-seok, an entertainment industry worker four years her junior. Recently she has been communicating steadily with the public through broadcasts and YouTube, and by opening up about infertility treatment at age 42 has received much support.
