Actor Gong Hyo-jin of the film "Upstairs People" mentioned junior actress Lee Ha-nui, who was active even during pregnancy.
On the morning of the 19th, an open talk for the film "Upstairs People" (director Ha Jung-woo), invited to the 30th Busan International Film Festival (30th BIFF), was held on the outdoor stage at Busan Cinema Center. Director and actor Ha Jung-woo and lead actors Gong Hyo-jin and Kim Dong-wook attended the event and talked with Baek Eun-ha, head of the Actor Research Institute, about the work.
In addition to them, Lee Ha-nui also starred as one of the four leads in "Upstairs People." Lee Ha-nui recently gave birth to her second child and was unable to attend this event. The actors mentioned Lee Ha-nui and expressed their affection for her.
Ha Jung-woo said, "Lee Ha-nui set the tone well. If the four were splashing under the surface, Ha-nui immersed herself in the water and supported the other three well. She played my wife, and Mr. Kim is someone who speaks plainly without a filter. She played a role that controlled and grounded those moments here and there. As you may have seen in Lee Ha-nui's other charm in the "Aema" series, she played a quiet but very strange and attractive character that is different from that."
Gong Hyo-jin said, "I worked with Lee Ha-nui on 'Pasta.' That was more than a decade ago. Personally, she is a younger sister I keep in close contact with and with whom I share life. Our film's method was unusual. Clothes and hair did not change, and the four of us shot every scene in order. That meant the four of us had to continue for long hours all day long," she exclaimed.
She added that Lee Ha-nui was a great help. Gong Hyo-jin said, "Ha-nui is the kind of person who never seems to get tired and is always in a happy mode. A constant happy mood emanates from her. Indeed, when we filmed on dark sets, we shot for many hours in those dark places."
She continued, "It was exactly when she found out she was pregnant. Even though she was in early pregnancy and having a hard time, she held us and led us like a mental coach with positive energy," adding, "We talked a lot just yesterday. We said it would be good if Ha-nui were here. We will promote the film in earnest together, and if she is watching, we really miss her and want to encourage her for all her hard work."
"Upstairs People" is a film that tells an unpredictable story that unfolds when the upstairs couple (Ha Jung-woo & Lee Ha-nui) and the downstairs couple (Gong Hyo-jin & Kim Dong-wook) end up having dinner together one night because of nightly sex-related noise between floors. Actor Ha Jung-woo is directing for the fourth time after "Rollercoaster," "Heo Sam-gwan," and "Lobby," and the film is scheduled to be released in December.
