The story of a single mother addicted to drugs was revealed on 'Lee Young-ae's Tracking 60 Minutes.'
In the KBS 1TV special documentary Lee Young-ae's Tracking 60 Minutes, which aired on the 19th, actress Lee Young-ae participated as the narrator and highlighted the addictive nature of drugs and their dangers.
That day, the story of a mother of two children who was addicted to drugs was revealed. Lee Mi-jin (pseudonym), whose life was completely destroyed by drugs in just one year. Lee Young-ae said, "Ms. Mi-jin is also the mother of two children. The children are now 5 and 3, a time when they need their mother's hands most. Instead of Ms. Mi-jin, who is addicted to drugs, her mother is taking care of the children."
Lee Mi-jin's birth mother lamented, "At first we said, let's go to the hospital. We took her to get treatment, but she was admitted? discharged? It repeated four times. When that repetition continued, she completely gave up. You can say her daily life just collapsed. For now, all the center of her thoughts is the drug."
Lee Young-ae said of Lee Mi-jin, "Raising two children alone was not easy. Still, she bravely endured while looking at her lovely children. She dreamed of being a good mother until she developed depression."
Lee Mi-jin began using drugs after her depression started. In an interview she confessed, "After having my second child, my depression became very severe, and everyone around me had a normal family and husband, but I was raising my child alone, giving birth alone, and I had nowhere to tell how hard it was."
Eventually, after her depression, she turned to drugs, and Lee Mi-jin's life priorities changed. In an interview Lee Mi-jin said, "As time went on, I stopped thinking about the children. Drugs became more important than the kids, so I couldn't even remember the feeling — what was that feeling? I just wanted to feel it one more time. Without even thinking, I abandoned the children and ran out and used drugs again."
In narration, Lee Young-ae warned of the seriousness, saying, "Even maternal love has lost its power."
