"Do-Reiver" and "Toolbox" are continuing a relationship between variety shows and fandom unlike anything seen before.
On the 18th, the square pillars inside Sinchon Station on Seoul Subway Line 2 were decorated as Netflix "Do-Reiver: In Search of the Lost Steering Wheel."
This was an event organized by the "Do-Reiver" fan club "Toolbox," and fans expressed their affection on "Do-Reiver" posters with phrases such as "our time that will not end," "from Hong Kim Dongjeon to Do-Reiver, we only know you," "thank you, you're doing well, stay with us, we love you," and "Do-Reiver thank you, you did well, stay with us, we love you."
The voices of the fans reached the cast. Kim Sook posted on her social media, "I had a reason to go to Sinchon so I stopped by! great spot," leaving a photo verifying "Thank you, Toolbox." Hong Jin Kyung also said, "The subway advertisement is so touching. I'll try harder to be funny! I love you," and Cho Sae-ho left a verification photo saying, "To our Toolbox members who always support and join Do-Reiver. Thank you so much."
Fan power played a big role in allowing "Hong Kim Dongjeon" to be reborn as "Do-Reiver." While the show struggled in ratings when it aired on KBS, it secured a loyal fan base; when cancellation rumors emerged, fans organized a truck protest, and even after cancellation was confirmed they supported the show by sending a coffee truck before awards ceremonies. With fans' enthusiastic response, "Hong Kim Dongjeon" succeeded in being revived on Netflix as "Do-Reiver," continuing its run from "Do-Reiver: In Search of the Lost Screws" to "Do-Reiver: In Search of the Lost Steering Wheel."
Fans also changed their fan club name from "Coin Wallet" to "Toolbox" and are continuing the same wholehearted support as before. Cast members such as Hong Jin Kyung, Kim Sook and Cho Sae-ho have expressed gratitude to the fans and maintained a close relationship with them.
Meanwhile, Netflix "Do-Reiver: In Search of the Lost Steering Wheel" is released every Sunday at 5 p.m.
